  1. With more than a nod to Trials in TerRover's DNA, the more patient among you will lap up TerRover and all of its wilful insanity.
  2. It really is like unicycling across a rope bridge made of ice. [Christmas 2010]

Why spend $15 to frustrate yourself? That's what TerRover proposes, as the confounding controls and punishing difficulty greatly outweigh its charm and style.
  4. I liked the basic idea behind the game, and I liked the artistic style and the way each planet of levels had its own look and feel. However, there is absolutely nothing fun about this game and I can't imagine anyone wanting to stick with it longer than the time it takes to download it in the first place.
  5. We love a challenge, but we can't begin to pretend this game is something for everybody. [Nov 2010, p.81]
  6. Bad controls and awful physics destroy any chance this cute platformer had of being fun.

Even the simplest of hops becomes a pad-hurling failure marathon. [Issue#232, p.87]

This is like a RC tank as LocoRoco. The controls are playful and fun. The gameplay is all about squeezing your rover through caves and overcoming obstacles and baddies. The levels are very colorful and thought out. The concept is simple but the gameplay physics are challenging as you squeeze every last bit of momentum. IF you get frustrated and bash the controls, the rover tweaks out and make squeaky noises. The sound design is amazing!! I can't help but think that negative reviewers didn't spend 5 minutes to get familiar with how the rover is controlled. Its really not confusing at all. I found the game cute, funny, challenging breath of fresh air in a landscape of games that are only hack n slash or are too easy. Get this if you like platforming, Loco Roco, or just a new experience. There is nothing wrong with this game. Full Review »

spend some time learning the controls, like people used to do with Defender back in the day, and you will be rewarded with the skills to conquer what is the most painfully underrated game in a long time. Work out how to use the weight of the rover and gentle application of acceleration and properly timed jumps... unlike the big website reviewers, who obviously havent bothered to do this. the controls require subtlety, and in mastering them and overcoming what initially seems impossible with ease and finesse, lies the joy of the game. i am pretty sad for the developers who have poured a lot of love into terrover, to have it so quickly discarded and rated so poorly by people who should know better.

in fact, it seems like it has been dropped from the uk ps store new lists, only to be found deep in the menus, and no mention of it on creat's front page. i really hope that proper gamers pick up on the appeal of this game, spend some time learning to DRIVE it, and love it for its impeccable mechanics as well as the visuals.

funnily enough i feel as if after playing it i could be pretty good at real 4x4 offroading, thats the sort of skillset practice with it awards you.

probably my favourite ps3 download so far, alongside the pixel junk series. defo ten out of ten, but only now i can appreciate it with my terrover driving abilities honed. very very rewarding.
