Typical roguelikes are usually a nightmare for me, but Crown Trick turned out to be pure pleasure. Its synchronous turn-based gameplay gave me +50 to calmness and +10 to good mood, as I could take all the time I needed to plan my steps. I actually felt I was playing a turn-based tactical shooter rather than a roguelike. Apart from being fun, the game looks and sounds cool. [01/2021, p.60]
I’m confident that if you like the challenge that roguelikes offer then you’ll find Crown Trick to tick all of your boxes. It’s fun, beautiful, and challenging enough to keep you trying harder, but not so much that you want to delete your PC. It’s going to be a game I keep going back to, and on that note, I’m going to go and play it some more.
Crown Trick is tough and not for the faint of heart. I'm over 70 hours in and still haven't completed a full run of day 2, only making it to the final boss room once so far.
It's a wonderfully designed dungeon crawler I've been playing since the beta. A combination of weapons, relics, elements, familiars, and terrain create a continuously shifting experience. It feels like you learn a lot as you play, constantly discovering new possibilities and adapting your play style. As a result, the game has tremendous replay value as each run feels fresh and I've only scratched the surface of what's possible.
Overall, I'd recommend it to those who enjoy turn-based RPGs such as Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest type games and creepy dungeon crawlers like Darkest Dungeon or even deckbuilding games like Slay the Spire. It feels like a cross between a D&D-style RPG and a crafty card game.
A very unique and chill roguelike. Compared to other games like this this one is really easy. I think i needed 2 tries at most for all the runs but imo this is perfect. Not every games must be insanely difficult like enter the gungeon for example.
Crown Trick offers turn-based tactical depth as you battle your foes on numerous dungeon floors. You'll chain the effects from traps, items, spells, and the elements, all while hoping you're lucky with the RNG. It's rogue-lite goodness wrapped in a challenging, engaging, and highly enjoyable package. Just be ready to restart manually often if you want to have an ideal run.
The cute shell holds challenging combat and a mature story. The turn based fights are fair, due to their transparency and calculability. Nevertheless, the lack of proper replayability and endgame as well as the small amount of dialogue dull the experience a little.
You’ll have to leave any run-and-gun sensibilities at the door when you jump into Crown Trick; it’s a game about thoughtful manoeuvres and carefully-planned attacks. But it results in combat that’s extremely rewarding, and a challenge that’s a lot of fun to take on. Progressing in Crown Trick may be tricky, but it’s never insurmountable – and you’ll be enjoying yourself so much that you’ll want to keep jumping back in, seeing if you can get that bit further next time.
While you may have to be prepared for a slow start and a grind, there’s fun to be found in Crown Trick, thanks to its unique turn-based take on roguelike dungeon crawlers, its enjoyable and deep mechanics, and the vibrant world of the Nightmare Realm. Whether you’re a patient player, a strategy buff or just someone looking for something different, NEXT Studios have something for you that might not be an absolute dream, but will be an interesting little fantasy.
Because I was lucky enough to participate actively to the beta test, I've fall in love with the gameplay and the storytelling of the game. I'm not use to play "turn based" game as I have always thought it's boring and not very challenging, but this game is all about planning correctly your next move, if you make mistakes then you'll pay the price. I become more and more hardcore player with this game because there is so many build that are to investigate.
The casino is for me a turning point in the run, if you got unlucky during the run a good and smart use of the casino can help you to go back in track or you can continue to be unlucky, but that's what casino are right?
The only point I don't enjoy tho is the weapon gachapon, it's not really useful in my point of view.
If you are looking for a game to play brain-dead then this game won't suit you, but if you love challenges and want to overcome yourself constantly then you are more than welcome to experience this game.
The gameplay is so addictive! When I blink between monsters and keep breaking them, it feels so safistying that I'm always at maximun attack. Blink/Break/Mana system works brilliantly together!
There're a lot variety in terms of weapon/relic/item/skills that leads to many types of builds. Since it's a random roguelike game, you build your character on the way and make the best out of it based on what you get. Overall it's balanced pretty well. After playing more and more runs, build choices also increases. The only downside is that powerful relics/weapons don't drop often. if this can be addressed, then many runs could be more enjoyable.
Again, this game is NOT action oriented, it's a turn-based roguelike RPG focusing on strategy. So take you time to plan you next move! This experience is pretty unique consider a lot of recent roguelikes are action based.
How this game got 84 is a mystery covered by "Tencent".
Fighting mechanics are bad for necrodancer-like mechanics.
Loot is bad. You might get 0 synergy whole run and kill boss with starter weapon.
Grind is 1 skill per 1-4 full runs.
AND CASINO!
One-armed bandit where your winning chances is in 0.001% range
AND GACHA!!
Random events also boring. Cursed chests and buffs are wildly unbalanced (some require 1 mob kill and other require you to not change your weapon for 3 floors. Act have 4floors and boss)
2 only for nice looking graphics.
