Thief is a decent game, however not as brilliant as expected. The game had some strange issues during the gameplay, although the atmosphere is still great. Nevertheless the game itself is not super, yet still decent enough with well thought out characters.
Imagine yourself playing this at 4 AM in the morning, running around stealing scissors and hitting guards in the head. When you think to yourself 'Why not continue on with the story?' And you do, untill you reach Chapter 5 and get nightmares for weeks.
On the whole, Thief is a worthwhile entry into the stealth genre and genuinely better than many I've played, but it's hard to ignore the number of obvious things that it whiffs.
It all feels like a brilliant framework held back by a few unsavoury elements. The hub-based world and other problems would’ve been less apparent if there was actually a decent narrative to prop the game up, but instead we’re left with a half-baked tale that feels shallow and dissatisfying by the time you reach the end. Still, there is still plenty to be happy about here, with a wealth of great gameplay flares and a strong aesthetic.
In spite of the preconceived notions and occasionally frustrating execution, Thief provides an intriguing and occasionally exciting foray into the shadows. It’s an experience that ranges from exceptional to entertaining — despite being as closeted as it is, and there’s enough to justify delving in if you can ignore a majority of its elements in favor of its superb stealth.
This reboot is not a new but a soulless misinterpretation. It undoubtedly has its moments but they are outweighed by its petty mechanics and superficial treatment of the Thief heritage.
This game was so much fun that I have since bought a PS3 and a PS4 for myself. (I was playing on my SO's machine.) This game basically got me back into playing video games - I haven't owned a console since the PS2 and gamecube were new.
(I do wish I could have skipped the asylum level because it scared me ... but YMMV.)
I hope to see a sequel out soon.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience provided by Thief, a 40 hours platinum that was not too difficult but also not too easy. I appreciated the freedom of choice in deciding how to approach the missions, which could be completed either through stealthy maneuvers or more direct **** storyline of Thief is engaging, although I would have preferred deeper characterization of the characters. The story unfolds coherently, but at times it can be somewhat predictable. I encountered some technical issues during my 2 playthroughs. I experienced occasional bugs and frame rate drops that affected the gameplay experience. Fortunately, these issues did not completely compromise the overall enjoyment. I highly recommend to try it to genre enthusiasts. Despite some technical problems, the immersive atmosphere, solid gameplay mechanics, and well-designed missions make this adventure worth experiencing. With its intriguing world of theft and infiltration, Thief offers a satisfying experience for those who relish the thrill of moving in the shadows.
i really have no idea how does games gets the approval of director / producer to be release or simply just meet the deadlines set by publisher... rushed ending which i'm still clueless at what it really **** obvious setup for sequel but i doubt it will receive the funding for it. this would have been a hit if done with care or more budget? disappointing thru n thru.
Graphics
just look to have better resolution texture and astonishing poorly optimised cutscenes, do they even watch/play it?
Art Direction
simply boring, it just look unpolished and it's like a demo for more funding
Gameplay
iits a pity as if they simply copy some of dishonoured and call it the "Thief" way. nothing innovative and the pathetic focus vision used by almost every other game.
Best moments
Chapter 5, totally came out of nowhere and unexpectedly effective but it doesn't blend with the game Thief at all. Wasted attempt, what a pity.
Its fun at the beggining but half way through you see its all the same all the time. no challenge because you can just run away. The boss fights are the most idiotic ideas anyone had for a game. its a stealth game with boss battles. Worst boss battles ever in a game. Youre better off renting it for a couple of days than buying it. DO NOT BUY IT YOU WILL REGRET IT!
