Overall, I was very surprised with how much fun Rainbow Moon was and would highly recommend any fans of RPGs to buy the game. If you have fifteen dollars you will find there is no better way to spend your money, if you don't I'd recommend saving up to buy this game.
In conclusion, Rainbow Moon is a very good effort. Although the story isn't quite as gripping as it could have been, the substance is spot on. Rainbow Moon has a perfect learning curve, with a great balance of gradually easing in new abilities, and giving the player a chance to get the hang of them.
The best game i have played since final fantasy 7 on PlayStation one no exaggeration this game is that good. 10/10 does not cut it its fantastic if you want a old school RPG instead of the instant battle rubbish were plagued with since the latest final fantasy with lightning and sara believe its 13 well this game delivers it takes the speed play out and replaces it with tactics the levelling system is awesome it encourages grinding and you have to eat drink and explore and well it you have 7.99 uk pounds spare i would urge you to buy this to support them more as rainbow moon skies is in the works and they really did a great job. The RPG elements of this game rival fallout and skyrim for thought
I don't remember when i last time enjoyed a game on PS3 that much like when playing Rainbow Moon.
Fun and challenging battles on Hard were you have to use tactic, lots of places to explore, stats to upgrade, weapon customization, great music, cute and colorful graphic. Not mention 80h+ of fun gameplay made it worth the price.
Some may say it lack of story, yes it don't have one because it don't need one. There are some short funny dialogs and it worked for me.
My best buy on PSN and one of the most addictive games i played in a long time and i have 14y of gaming behind me.
This is not an unoriginal game. SideQuest Studios was looking just for this, an old-school RPG, but with updated graphics. It has mixed influences and this causes some weird results, but it works despite the classic genre flaws: repetitiveness. If you like classic RPG, this game is worth every cent.
Rainbow Moon has some weaknesses, but its great tactical combat system, deep character growth and amazing length (for a downloadable title), make it a great buy for any rpg fan out there.
You can block routes off with loot, and most battles descend into simply turtling into a corner, playing the boring, easy route. A shame, as it's otherwise solid. [Issue#221, p.81]
Despite having some control issues, Rainbow Moon gets most of the core gameplay right. Unfortunately, the game's horrible pacing and insane difficulty makes this impossible to recommend. This would have been a better product if the developers weren't so preoccupied with microtransactions!
Rainbow moon is a JRPG that missed for PS3. It has several extras and is a challenging game. In the begging it will take a bit more to level up but after 7 hours or so of play you will be ready to explore deeper and grid better.
History is a weak point, but you probably will play it because you like strategic RPGs. Music its a bit repetitive but was well done.
Battle is that will feed you to continue to play, even after beat the game. You will find more and more challenging battle, and gridding will not be a tiresome.
I'm not a big fan of turn-based game so my review is from that point of view, if you're a fan of those game you might disagree in many points. I played this game thanks to the PS+ subscription but I'll review it like if i bought it as is no longer available for free.
So here we go, let's begin by saying that the tutorial of the game is very well made and you'll learn a lot about how to beat the game in the first few hours. The combat system, which can be qualified of "tactic" (aka turn based in chess-like arena) is quite basic, and will not make you think too hard.
From the technical point , I didn't have a single bug on my walkthrough (it's an accomplishment for this little studio giving the size of the world), the graphics are far from amazing but cute, with nice musics, globally it reminds me of Pokemon : my little character wondering in this cute large world and fighting cartoonish monsters.
Now let's talk about the main point of this game, its length it took me 60 hours to finish the main story and 75 to finish all the side-quests, it's huge for a 15$ game, so we may think it's good, but for me it was far too much, the story and side-quests are absolutely not engaging and after 45-50 hours of the same combat mechanics and same music the end of the game really felt like a chore (and the first 40 hours weren't absolute fun too).
Rainbow Moon was too ambitious and should have spend more time on spicing its combat and story instead of making you harvesting the world for parts/ingredients.
Not a bad game at all, but not very entertaining which remain my main reason for gaming;
Saw this game on IGN and thought I would try it. Do not buy this game before playing the demo. It is nowhere near as good as Final Fantasy Tactics so do not be fooled into buying it. It is a really good game but you will spend hours wasting your time leveling just to clear one area only to spend another hour to clear another. So unless you want to sink a lot of time into this game save your money and buy Final Fantasy Tactics.
A videogame RPG in the most classic sense of the word. I use the word "videogame RPG" instead of RPG because the gameplay mechanics are lifted straight out of your favorite NES RPGs. That's a great thing if you love to grind and do meaningless fetch quests. There is some fun character building and progression, but it feels like the developers read an "RPG 101" book from the 1980s. Some people will like this, some won't. I personally did not find hundreds of hours grinding, doing the same repetitive thing, over and over, to be fun.
There is not one moment in this game that is surprising. It's very safe, and the ultimate example of formulaic.
