Surge Deluxe will keep you hooked from start to finish making it one of the best games I have played on the Vita for a long time. With its simple yet addictive gameplay, players will be compelled to keep plugging away at it in hopes of beating their high score, while the Trophies are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Puzzle games have always been a highlight on handhelds, and Surge Deluxe carries on this tradition. It’s amazing that despite largely lacking the AAA blockbuster titles, the Vita has become something of an indie paradise. Surge Deluxe is the latest, and one of the best.
It has just enough little nuances to set it apart from the vast ocean of similar puzzle games available across the digital oceans and it’s yet another solid indie title in Vita’s ever-growing catalogue.
Bright and beautiful, frenetic and challenging – it’s a wonderful puzzle game that works brilliantly on the PS Vita. There’s not a lot of content, though, and once you get bored of trying to climb the leaderboards you’re unlikely to go back for a blast of the puzzle mode more than once or twice.
It’s slightly off-putting that it definitely takes too long to get to the higher levels, and consequently that it strays close to undermining that desire to instantly have “just one more go.” The overall quality of the matching experience was ultimately strong enough to pull me back, largely helped by the smart secondary Puzzle Mode.
SummarySurge Deluxe is the block-matching puzzle game that promises to electrify your fingertips with lightning fast gameplay, unique mechanics & strategic depth.
