Toukiden is the most beautiful and playable "Monster Hunter clone" to date.

Monster Hunter still wins out in terms of depth and variety, but Omega Force manages to nail so many of the other elements that make Capcom’s game so satisfying. And since Capcom is busy sleeping with the enemy, we have no hesitation whatsoever in heralding Toukiden as the best Monster Hunter game on Vita.

Monster Hunter meets Dynasty Warriors in this interesting new IP from Tecmo Koei. If you like lots of farming this is the game for you when building your arsenal. The story is also gripping enough to have you wondering whats next, but if Dynasty Warriors combat is not for you, this won't change it for you.

That said, I don't want to dissuade anyone from getting Toukiden. It's obviously not the most original game the Vita has to offer, but it's still done incredibly well — no small feat when you consider that even if the genre may be overdone, the two similar games that have come to the PS Vita in North America before it (Soul Sacrifice and Ragnarok Odyssey) both whiffed in their own unique ways.

An exciting Monster Hunter-shaped loot-fest that the Vita's been sorely missing.

While it doesn’t have the depth of a Monster Hunter game, it builds a great foundation for a potential sequel and due to its accessibility, it’s well worth checking out whether you’re a fan of the genre or not.

Toukiden's pros overwhelm its cons. It's fun and somewhat addictive, whether you're playing with the AI or online.

Toukiden is a very good Monster Hunter clone, with a better story and a streamlined combat system. If you don't have a Nintendo console but you want to go hunting monsters with some friends, Toukiden is the game for you.

Even though the similitude with Monster Hunter is undeniable, this is not a bad thing at all. PS Vita owners can now enjoy a hunting game very solid and fun, quite outstanding taking into account it's Omega Force's first try with this genre.

Deep, engaging and sophisticated hack´n slash action game, plenty of battles and intense action. A must have for PS Vita owners.

Though it is certainly not reinventing the wheel, Omega Force succeeds in proposing us a far better action game than the recent installments of the Dynatsty Warriors series have been. Toukiden will please all of the Monster Hunter fans who only own a PS Vita.

Toukiden: The Age of Demons is actually a pretty good "hunting game" but it lacks the exceptional design choices which made our preys in the Monster Hunter series truly great. It's an OK substitute however, once you get over a few nuisances and gameplay issues.

While lacking an open world environment and a leveling system to go beyond the limits, Toukiden still proves to be a great game to keep players busy and entertained.

A good take on the hunter genre, with great action, good graphics and excellent music. Sometimes it´s a bit repetitive and tedious with the grind, but overall it´s a worthy experience.

Though it has lots of similarities with Capcom's big series, Toukiden: The Age of Demons can stand on its own.

It owes much to Monster Hunter, but it still has its own way of delivering interesting content. Also, the lasting appeal is fair, if you can accept some repetitive mission.

Toukiden nailed the things that the popular Monster Hunter series didn't give to Vita. The story of the Slayers is definitely one of the things that surprised me, not expecting that a monster hunting game like this would have a decent one. If you're a gamer who's into graphics then Toukiden wouldn't also disappoint you. Far surpassing the graphics of any monster hunting game in any handheld device out there, this one is the best in my opinion so far. Don't mind the people who hates this game. A large sum of the Monster Hunter community would hate this game because it's annoyingly more appealing in some terms. Giving a very low score wouldn't change how good this game is. Full Review »

The graphics is incredibly stunning and well detailed. Furthermore, they even tried to push the Vita to its limits by making it cope up in terms of frame rate (the first Japanese demo had horrible frame rate drops and TK did a good job fixing it).

This game deserves a sequel --- No, not the Capcom move kind of sequel, like what most hunting games are pulling off now.

It is wonderful to see that there are still companies that put laziness aside to take full graphical quality of a modern video game device. Sure Toukiden was inspired from games like Monster Hunter, but in my opinion Tecmo Koei managed to cover a field that Capcom franchise failed to do, after all, I was getting tired of fighting and fighting monsters without a story in the background. However, I'm still a big Monster Hunter fan. Toukiden is agile, has beautiful graphics, good insights from the point of view of battles and the concept of Mitamas brought something very interesting for this kind of game. It must be a game changer for PS Vita, or at least, it should be. Full Review »
