When you consider the cross platform abilities, low price tag and just the enjoyably ridiculous nature of the game, I think it's safe to say Clever Beans did a great job for their first game out of the gate.

Any time you're ready to lose yourself to some head-down, three-chord fun, whether you're playing on Vita or PS3, When Vikings Attack is waiting to show you a real cool time.

With more room for Chuckle Brothers impersonators than Nolan North when it comes to the voice work, When Vikings Attack is weird and personable and surprisingly hard to dislike. Cushty!
  4. Nov 23, 2012
It's a fun game whose only purpose is to amuse those who invest their money in it. But before spending your money, you should know that a dedicated friends list is necessary to pull the most fun out of it.
  5. Nov 28, 2012
When Vikings Attack is a great cross play-title for both the PS3 and the Vita. The structure may be simple and the campaign is a bit repetitive, but the brilliant multiplayer compensates more than enough for this.
  6. Nov 13, 2012
When Vikings Attack! is a funny videogame. Sometimes chaos will overwhelm the player, but this game is recommended to action lovers.
  7. Nov 16, 2012
We were hoping that this would be a game that we could easily pick up, play and enjoy, but When Vikings Attack's appeal doesn't last long. Even getting it on the PlayStation 3 as well as the vita for the same price doesn't justify what you spend on it.

When Vikings Attack is a fun and charming little game, with simple core mechanics. Britain is overrun by vikings, and the townspeople need to throw everything they can find at their aggressors to fend them off. Its good for casual gaming, but works best as a fun gaming experience with family and friends.

When Vikings Attack has tons of fun moments, and comes recommended if you're willing to meet it on its own terms.
  10. Nov 13, 2012
Despite being a beautifully designed game, When Vikings Attack lacks in variation and the controls just aren't good enough.

    Thoroughly addictive. [Jan 2013, p.81]
  12. Nov 16, 2012
It's a cute, easy-to-play, innovative brawler presented with humor and a well-developed sense of fun. It's even more fun played through with a partner or two, and though the vs. multiplayer isn't to my taste, I'm sure many gamers will like it.

Fun graphics and a good soundtrack can help make a good game even better. As When Vikings Attack demonstrates, however, no amount of either can cover up a massive lack of content.
  14. Jan 21, 2013
This arcade title has much potential, but it's only grounded in the multiplayer modes which are fun. On the single-player side it lacks variety and a background story.
  15. Nov 9, 2012
The real strength of When Vikings Attack is its humor. It doesn't take itself seriously, and provides a nice change of pace from the deluge of first-person shooters and bloody action games we're all becoming more accustomed to. But its gameplay won't hook you for more than a passing few hours.

Vikings attacking Englishmen, women and children who fight back against them throwing everything they can find along the levels, just like their enemies. Straight, simple and fun are the keywords for this When Vikings Attack alongside with Cross-Buy, Cross-Save and Cross-Play, a nice title for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita with a really short 2 hours Campaign Mode, but that really makes the most of it in its multiplayer mode.

A cheekily entertaining download that turns an extremely simple idea into a disarmingly nuanced, and effortlessly charming, multiplayer battler.
  18. Nov 19, 2012
Delightfully British in its humour and style, When Vikings Attack is one of the best surprises recently appeared on PSN, offering a cheerful and frantic multiplayer experience based on simple but clever game mechanics.
  19. Nov 12, 2012
Regardless of the questionable depth, and maybe slightly high price, you'd have to have a heart of stone to regret time spent with When Vikings Attack. It might be a bit repetitive, but it continues to be fun to biff cars and bombs about, all while listening to the humorous banter between your lot and everyone else.

When Vikings Attack! takes place in England in the groovy seventies (actually anything from the sixties until the nineties could be considered "groovy") where peaceful life is brutally interrupted by wild cartoon vikings. As if there is any other kind. [December 2012, p.92]

Pointless violence is fun and this viking showdown is good for some old-fashioned arcade smashing especially in multiplayer mode. It's an debut to old Amiga games. Back then all you needed was a joystick with two buttons. [Jan 2013]

You can play it on both the PS3 and Vita but I found it a bit better suited for the on-the-go style of the Vita.

Great value for money, solid multiplayer content and addictive gameplay.
  24. Nov 5, 2012
Packed full of collectibles, replay value, instantly accessible fun and oozing with charm and character, there really isn't a better candidate for a PS Vita title that everyone must own.
  25. Nov 11, 2012
When Viking's Attack is a fun little game, ideally played in short sessions. It looks and plays fine, with cross-platform options (if you buy the PS3 or the Vita version, you get the other one as well) available to extend playability. Not the most impressive title ever, but definitely good for a couple of laughs.

Repelling Viking invaders alongside your neighbours – figuratively in solo play or literally in multiplayer – taps into an old-school nostalgia that's enjoyable in short bursts. The game's lack of ideas make it frustrating in long stretches, though, and although the cross-platform functionality between PS3 and Vita is neat, solo players might want to give this game a miss.
  27. Nov 6, 2012
This game is clearly supposed to be played with friends and in those circumstances, it can be hugely enjoyable.
  28. Nov 5, 2012
A simple, fun and perfectly executed idea, both visually and when it comes to the gameplay. It's surprising how something that simple can be that fun, but it ends up becoming repetitive. It can last way longer if we stick to the multiplayer modes, though.

Add to that the wonderful 'When Vikings Relax' DLC and a relatively modest price of entry, and you're left with an utterly essential thoroughbred that no self-respecting Vita owner should do without. Seriously, free up 600mb's of memory real estate, drop £7.99 on When Vikings Attack (plus the DLC of course), and enjoy. I can as good as guarantee that you'll be glad you did. See you on the crazy golf battlefield! Full Review »

You see, when Vikings attack is best played in a local multiplayer setting on a single tv, something the vita cannot physically do. It was amazing that you get the vita game for free if you buy the ps3 version but the ps3 version is far better because of the local multiplayer set up. Trust me, get 3 freinds round and play 4 player free for all and you will understand. You see without that the vita version just ends up being an average game that gets a bit boring after a while, but local multiplayer doesn't have that problem. Full Review »
