92I can honestly say that FIFA 2001 is a damn fine game without any guilt or remorse. The animations are great, the sense of speed is solid, and the overall sense of the game is comprised of refinement and depth.
-
83A lack of any significant refinement or incremental upgrades and graphics that haven't stood the test of time make FIFA 2001 a pale upgrade to last year's FIFA title.
-
100Lives up to EA Sports' tagline by re-creating soccer completely.
-
FIFA's awesome graphics, great controls and ample array of options ensured that it became the ick for fans of the fastest growing sport in the world. [Nov 2001, p.43]
-
89It's not for those seeking deep simulation style 'football' but it will do for everyone else.
-
90If you're a FIFA newbie and own nothing but a PSX, FIFA 2001 is by far the best soccer sim out there.
-
80It's extremely satisfying to take the U.S. to the World Cup finals (hey, a guy can dream, can't he?), Arsenal to the top of the English Premiere League, or simply play out bitter rivalries like Celtic vs. Rangers, or heck, Chicago Fire versus Deportivo la Coruna...could happen....
-
75It's got bottomless depth, good AI and everything we loved so much about the series. It just doesn't have much new stuff to talk about.
-
Even though the gameplay is up to par, the graphics need to keep up with the times.
-
50People looking for a more realistic and rewarding football experience go for "ISS Pro Evolution." If a fast and not too taxing kickabout is what you want, well, you know the score with FIFA games by now.
