Despite B-Boy's weaker points, there's nothing here that can take away from the main feature, which is the dancing itself. This has been recreated beautifully.
  2. 30
A simplified take on breakdancing, with larger than life characters, a more stylized approach and better rewards for the player could have been a proper hoot. As it is, you would be better off avoiding this and acting wild in the comfort of your own home if you fancy getting your yerks on.
  3. B-Boy has a lot going for it, but it's not for everyone. The gameplay is limited and there are some technical flaws here and there, including the control system, which is more awkward to use than the PS2 version, since there's a tendency to move the screen around too much.
  4. 38
The clunky controls which are way too complicated and annoying to use, as well as battle elements that either don't work particularly well or sabotage each competition hinder the overall gameplay.
  5. 42
    Remarkably shallow and underwhelming.
  6. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK
An innovative and challenging take on an old formula. [Nov 2006, p.100]
  7. Despite some pacing and loading issues, this is a game with a good, solid and inventive soul that offers a unique and enjoyable take on rhythm gaming for the persevering gamer.
  8. B-Boy has limited itself, partly by playing on Sony hardware and partly by gameplay that's not inclusive enough; it's so stylish it's for poseurs not players. Not into hip hop culture? No reason to pick this up, no matter how pretty and slick the dancing is.
  9. games(TM)
It’s a fun, frothy take on a scene that could have easily led it to drown in detestable ghetto references and urban nods, but even though B-Boy manages to avoid travelling that dangerous path, it remains no more than a guilty pleasure. [Oct 2006, p.121]
  10. Even without the long loading times the gameplay is poor - how many games can you name with a control system much too complicated but with almost no depth?
  11. The camera can often become an obstacle, the moves can be difficult to pull off or memorize, the flair outside of dancing is lackluster, the time spent on loading screens is ridiculous, and the dancing itself can be at times, pretty damn derivative.
