Smooth, slick and sexy, setting a bench mark for PSP. [Issue#139, p.102]
  2. By simply making sure that absolutely everything in the game is designed to remove the usual restrictions on fun, Sumo's created something that practically transcends rivals like PGR3 and Burnout before you even done anything.
  3. Bright, highly polished, massively desirable and built to impress. OutRun 2006 shows the same class as the Ferraris it lets you race. [Apr 2006, p.112]
  4. OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast has everything. It's two thrilling arcade machines reproduced in incredible style, it's a vast collection of all-new driving challenges, plus it's an online racer - and one that connects to the PS2 version to unlock exclusive stuff for those who buy both games.
  5. The frame rate on the PSP version is a tad disappointing, but it's easy to look past, and the great draw distance and sense of speed has been reproduced admirably on the handheld.
  6. It's going to last with its multiplayer online options, its diverse modes and course splitting gameplay - and all of these elements combined make the gameplay as fun as releasing a really bad fart in a really crowded area.
  7. 90
The inclusion of connectivity to the PSP was a stroke of genius that I hope other developers take note of and use in the future.
  8. The $30 price tag, combined with the huge pile of content added, makes this a must-own for racing fans, Sega fans, or people just looking for a great arcade racer to add to their gaming library. OutRun2006 perfectly fits the definition of a sleeper hit.
  9. Coast 2 Coast could be prescribed as a cure for depression. The most fun you'll have had in ages, and only denied a 90 because it's a bit simple. Still, on PSP it's second only to "Burnout." [Apr 2006, p.84]
  10. The game is simply a pleasure to behold and a joy to play; but be warned that it’s a simple pleasure – possibly too simple for some – and there is an element of nostalgia in effect here.
  11. Drifting and slipstreaming has never been so much fun. [May 2006, p.60]
  12. 85
It is a classic in every sense of the word and while not perfect, still retains the fun and feel of the old school game, but with some new school treats that will make you smile from ear to ear.
  13. Occasionally the game can seemingly freeze for around 1/4 of a second when driving. It doesn't happen often, and the game quickly gets back to racing with minimal gameplay impact.
  14. It’s unabashedly repetitive, cartoony and not as pretty as many would like, but it’s still the most beautiful journey yet. [Mar 2006, p.96]
  15. Only a supreme apologist could suggest that such performance dips aren’t as damaging as they are disappointing, but conversely a realist should soon become capable of accepting them, momentary as they are. [Apr 2006, p.95]
  16. An exceptional title; pure, simple, fun, brilliant - I simply can't lay enough superlatives around the game.
  17. Nothing short of stunning – for the greater part. Depth, longevity, looks and some fantastically booming old-school sound schemes (complete with satisfyingly throaty engine tones) are all accounted for here.
  18. A fantastic handheld game and really shows why some games belong on handheld more than consoles.
  19. Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast offers a fun, accessible experience to racing fans who just want to jam on the accelerator and go.
  20. Those expecting a representation of complication might be disappointed, and cruise to another game, but everyone else will want to sit back and enjoy the ride.
  21. Online play only sweetens the deal, making this one of the best, easily-accessible racers on any system.
  22. Instead of a sense of "been there, done that" it will be a wave of comforting nostalgia, like a sea breeze taking you back to days gone by. OutRun 2006 is a lot of fun, it's just that you have to know exactly what to expect from the series.
  23. The branching track system is brilliantly designed to challenge and thrill in equal measure. Giddy car handling enables skilled drivers to power-slide gracefully around corners at ridiculous speed.
  24. Good for what it is... a simple, arcade style racer that retains the core concepts of the original OutRun arcade game while incorporating many necessary gameplay and audio-visual enhancements.
  25. The perfect condensation of arcade themes, jaw-dropping visuals and old-school challenge come together in one of the most complete ports I've ever seen on the PSP. Buy this game, and buy it now.

People looking for a loud and crash-filled Burnout experience or something more simish like Gran Turismo will be sorely disappointed, but if you just want to chill out and drive, then this is the game for you. Just don't be surprised if you start feeling a sense of déjà vu if you play it for too long.
  27. Six-player online racing on both systems(complete with friends lists)seals the deal--if you love racing games, you have to get this. [Jun 2006, p.82]
  28. The races are perfectly timed and even the design of the game seems geared for the PSP making OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast much better on the handheld than the major consoles.
  29. While some of the content is new, the game plays exactly the same--fast, thick with the flavor of classic arcades, and kind of simplistic. [Jun 2006, p.110]
  30. 73
It's a good game that holds onto the initial flavor of the arcade franchise, and it incorporates a few new twists on the game formula. At the same time, it's the same graphical engine, the same levels and practically the same idea just two years later with limited replayability once beaten.
  31. The hardcore arcade-style gameplay may be a huge turn-off for some, but if you've always like the Outrun games--even back in the day--then, surely, you won't be disappointed with the face-lift. [Jun 2006, p.103]

Not to mention graphics, easily one of the best looking racing game on PSP right behind Midnight Club 3.
Almost lose nothing in graphics department from PS2 to PSP.
Being such a gorgeous looking game it does have some slowdown it may not run at 60fps all the time but it's more than enough.
Lots of events and items to play and purchase.
