  • Summary: [Playstation Network] Originally released on NeoGeo arcade machines 10 years ago, Strikers 1945 Plus was a standard but competent vertically scrolling shooter. Now, it has made its way to the PSP as a downloadable game.

Strikers is something that Chuck Norris would play just to warm up each morning.

Although its developers didn't bring anything new to the table, Strikers 1945 Plus Portable is a satisfying shooter. At $12, however, we wish there was more bang for the buck.
  3. There really isn’t that much that is wrong with Strikers 1945 Plus Portable in any way, but it doesn’t really offer the kind of gameplay that would help it stand out and deserve some attention.

The repetition will get to you, there are presentation issues galore and the fact that there's really no penalty for dying removes all challenge from the game.

The poor scores for this game really disappoint me - I've spent more time on this game than probably any other downloaded PSP game I own. It's a great port of a great vertical shmup. It won't convert any newcomers, but it is what it is, and it does everything it needs to do in its own niche beautifully. Every bit review listed here makes me cringe - some of them are downright incorrect - IGN says "that there's really no penalty for dying removes all challenge from the game". That is an absurd statement. If you're repeatedly continuing the game every time you get a game over screen, you're playing the game wrong. Expand
