Monochroma wants you to debate your every move, to drain you of color and splash you with hope when you play well. It’s often too quiet to know if you’re doing just that.
Cool puzzles, not too complicated gameplay. Jump,Run,Push,Pull skill wise. The theme of the game is very fantastic. Good coordination between visuals/scenes and music. Also background animations are really great and the music just awesome. It's great game. Only bad thing is price tag(20 USD). It's bit high:/
This game is awesome . İt's kind of like Limbo if you liked Limbo you'll definetely like this game . It has a good scenario good musics and good graphics .
Monochroma is a good puzzle platformer with a remarkable artistic level, inspired by famous products such as ICO and Limbo, however, the game mechanics are sometimes affected by imprecise controls and a physics engine not always responsive. The social commitment of the developers is laudable.
In truth, it's an average game, with the music and the presentation proposing a more dramatic and meaningful experience than is actually manifested in the gameplay. [Issue#150, p.118]
Limbo-like Monochroma has some stunning looking environments but is apart from that a quite hollow shell of a puzzle-platformer. The fate of the two protagonists could have been more involving, and the same could be said about the uninspired puzzles. Controls and ingame mechanics struggle as well and make the game hard to recommend to any but fans of the genre.
It is really great game. Give a chance. Good scenario. Good gameplay. Good graphics. Good musics. This game looks like Limbo but Monochroma great game too.
if you want great atmosphere and scenario, Monochroma is definitely the game that you should play. Eventhough some problems such as mechanics take place in game, this doesn't affect your gameplay and atmosphere
Pretty enjoyable and a nice title to pick up for those moments that you have spare (10-15 minute stretches are perfect however you can play for half an hour to an hour and still be entertained). I'm a big fan of Limbo (probably completed it at least four times at this point) and there is no denying that this reminds you of it from the get go.
My favourite thing about it: It reminded me of Limbo and it had one or two puzzles that had me think just a bit to get through them. The "chase" sequences were alright however I honestly prefer puzzles with timed bits in them as opposed to having to outrun things even though they are essentially the same things.
My least favourite thing about it: It was just too friekin' dark even with my monitor and in-game settings cranked up to FULL (and it was so dark at times that I could not see the environment in order to figure out WTF I was supposed to do).
Thanks to SweetFX I was able to get it to a brightness that not only allowed me to see everything but also made it look far far prettier than it had in my first hour or so. Very nice find and I'm glad to have played it as opposed to not having known about it at all (however these games aren't for everyone if you don't enjoy puzzle games at all)
Nice experiment in black and white and red
The game is on the same principle as once Limbo. A black male running isolated against white background from left to right. The color red loosens the game on but not more. The story takes players even less with like Limbo.
The style is ok but after the umpteenth game of this type you are just fed up.
You like Limbo, Inside or even Albert and Otto? Well, go buy those because this one is just another failed doppelganger: controls are clunky, pacing is atrocious, platforms hitbox is fuzzy, therefore pretty frustrating. Character jumping consists of 90% of the game and it's a total failure. Turns an interesting dystopian world into a bad platformer. Bottom line: it's boring. Got it for 2$ and it's pretty much the max value of this game. Don't buy at higher price or better, don't buy at all.
SummaryMonochroma is a cinematic puzzle platformer that takes place in an industrial-alchemic setting. It's about being a child, having a little brother, growing up, falling down and solving some puzzles.
