As far as Karaoke games go, at its core SiNG Party is as good as any: The recognition works well, the tracklist is as big as varied. Unfortunately you won't see any original videos and the lyrics of some songs have been edited to become family friendly. On top of that I miss the community features that the competition on other platforms introduced.

SiNG Party serves its purpose as a functional, no frills karaoke game, that could be fun with a large group of people. That being said, without any online features, and only a few game modes that are tiresome and confusing at times, the fun fades fast, and there really is not any lasting appeal.

Sing Party flounders between niches, with too little depth to make for a decent music game and too few songs to serve as a replacement for an actual karaoke machine.

Sing Party is a boring party game with few game design issues. Developers used Wii U GamePad in a good way in a couple of modes only, and the final result is a mediocre karaoke experience.

Sing Party is a game that can only be recommended if you are thinking in a collective and persistent way of fun.

Even though all the new functions don’t always work that well, the core karaoke experience you get in Sing Party is very satisfying. But the game is in great need of an online song store if we’re expected to keep playing it instead of SingStar or Lips, so that we can customize our karaoke nights to our preferred taste and variety.

It could have offered so much more. [Apr 2013, p.82]

Does a competent job of letting you sing a bunch of songs and occasionally earn points doing so.

For those willing to command a room, the little nudges offered towards group interaction are a welcome addition--optional as they may be--and the interplay between the GamePad and the TV makes a faded genre feel just a bit more vibrant.

Sing Party gets by well enough as a minimalistic party experience that's heavy on embarrassment potential and light on actual gameplay, but the inability to switch off the vocals tracks is the biggest detriment to the experience. It's a frustrating design decision that goes against the very spirit of what the game is trying to emulate. Serious karaoke enthusiasts will bristle at having to sing over the original tracks, and casual players will likely be uncomfortable mustering the resolve it takes for party play. What's left is a pretty weak package with limited appeal.

Don't underestimate Sing Party. Featuring a great deal in terms of simplicity, options and presentation, it brings many fresh ideas to the genre, so this one could be very well your next karaoke game.

A passable option for those gamers looking for a little musical accompaniment to their parties. But a weak tracklist festers underneath Sing Party's accessible, bland exterior.

Sing Party is a not-so-interactive karaoke, nothing more and something less than what Sony achieved with SingStar in the last decade. The shallow visuals don’t help either, but the tracklist hosts some pretty decent modern hit and a bunch of oldies-but-goldies.

The single-player mode doesn't do anything that Rock Band or other karaoke games haven't already done, and the rigid competitive structure of Team mode limits the usefulness of its dual-screen display.

The Wii U could've enabled a mini-revolution in karaoke games, but that'll never happen with the minimum effort and budget at work here.

SiNG Party feels like it was designed for commercials: It's flashy and light, heavy on that kind of wholesome party fun that impossibly well-groomed human-like people seem to have all the time but of which the grubby masses never finds itself a part. By trying to please everyone at the same time, though, the game sacrifices a lot of identity and ends up with modes that are either just plain adequate or downright puzzling. With the right group of like-minded people you could find yourself having a great time with SiNG Party, but then again you can achieve the same effect cranking up the radio and belting along at the top of your lungs.

The game is best enjoyed with at least two people, and especially at a party(the word is in the game's title. after all), but it's great anytime you feel like belting one out. [Dec 2012, p.89]

SiNG Party is fairly inoffensive (except for the Bieber demon) but also pretty uninspiring too.
  19. Sing Party shows off the huge potential the Wii U has for games of this genre. A few fixes could make it definitive but right now it remains simply solid.

Maybe it's too late for karaoke games to succeed, or maybe it's hard to bring something new to the genre. Yes, it's better than the Wii version, but even the use of the GamePad doesn't really help it to make it stand above other similar games.

The first party game on the Wii U is a fact but to be honest, it's a failure. The tracklist isn't strong enough to play this game for a long time. Also, there are better karaoke games out there, think about SingStar and Lips.

The HUD is simple and the melody guidelines are well done, making it easy for experienced singers to sing a song they've never heard before. Although the songlist is a little unoriginal, most of the songs will get the party started in your living room. Full Review »
