Don't underestimate Sing Party. Featuring a great deal in terms of simplicity, options and presentation, it brings many fresh ideas to the genre, so this one could be very well your next karaoke game.

Does a competent job of letting you sing a bunch of songs and occasionally earn points doing so.

Even though all the new functions don’t always work that well, the core karaoke experience you get in Sing Party is very satisfying. But the game is in great need of an online song store if we’re expected to keep playing it instead of SingStar or Lips, so that we can customize our karaoke nights to our preferred taste and variety.

Sing Party gets by well enough as a minimalistic party experience that's heavy on embarrassment potential and light on actual gameplay, but the inability to switch off the vocals tracks is the biggest detriment to the experience. It's a frustrating design decision that goes against the very spirit of what the game is trying to emulate. Serious karaoke enthusiasts will bristle at having to sing over the original tracks, and casual players will likely be uncomfortable mustering the resolve it takes for party play. What's left is a pretty weak package with limited appeal.

  1. As a HUGE karaoke game fan, i was genuinely impressed by SiNG Party. The HUD is simple and the melody guidelines are well done, making it easy for experienced singers to sing a song they've never heard before. Although the songlist is a little unoriginal, most of the songs will get the party started in your living room. Expand
  2. What happened to you, FreeStyleGames? You'd better make more good games like DJ Hero series were. This game is not innovative at all, every karaoke game is outstanding compared to "that". Collapse
