Satisfyingly challenging, very good music. I didn't mind the "dated graphics." A great game for a short respite. And of course, kudos for establishing the inspiring world of Castlevania. Expand

This game is a lot of fun, though frustrating at times. Especially the mummies and the Medusa heads. But the challenge was part of the fun. It made me want to keep trying. Expand

This game is fun to play for awhile at least, the controls and music are great but it can be frustrating, and the difficulty at times is unforgivable.

the game can be extremely difficult but its because of that difficulty that makes beating a level and/or learning from your past mistakes so satisfying. sometimes the game can feel a little unfair because of Simon's AWFUL control, knock back and the sometimes cheap enemy placement (MEDUSA HEADS ARE REALLY ANNOYING) thankfully the game is pretty short and has unlimited continues so its not nearlly as hard as other 8 bit games. the game has pretty good graphics for 8 bit standards and the music is also really good and it even helped me tolerate the more difficult moments of the game because of how fun they are to listen to. my favorite track is "Wicked Child" and "Vampire Killer" is also pretty good but its remakes in the latter games were defently better than this version. overall Castlevania is a very fun, difficult and replayable game but it has defently aged a little badly.
