  • Summary: [WiiWare] Another 100 years have passed since the death of Count Dracula, but his curse has emerged once again within the realms of Transylvania. Play the role of the ultimate gothic hero from the long lineage of vampire hunters, the Belmont clan, and rid the universe of Dracula's legion of darkness and doom. Based on the classic 1989 original Castlevania: The Adventure, this WiiWare version will allow players of a new generation - and older fans - to experience one of the most popular games within the storied Castlevania timeline from a new perspective. 1. Konami has done Wii owners a big favor with this "ReBirth" line of games, with its "Castlevania" title being the best of them all. As long as you don't mind the more straightforward progression and the absence of RPG elements, this is a highly recommended Wiiware download.
  2. Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth is one of the best retro games I can ever remember playing. Some gamers might find it to be too short or too antiquated, but it definitely holds its own when compared to the old games that established the series.
  3. Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth is just about everything an old-school fan could hope for, and it's probably the best title in the ReBirth series thus far.
  4. Castlevania Rebirth is a must-have for all who're searching for some old-style action. It could have been better, suffering from extremely classic gameplay, but it succeeds in delivering a solid and rewarding fun.
  5. Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth is a nice throwback to the 16-bit Castlevania games with a few modern twists thrown in. Aside from a brutal difficulty level late in the game and the absence of a save function, it is well worth the $10 price of admission
  6. Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth isn't the best installment of the series, but it's also far from the worst. Longtime series fans craving a new 2D adventure like myself will be pleased by it, but newcomers probably won't get much out of it. While the graphics are impressive, the clunky jumping controls and slow gameplay will certainly turn them away. I love the idea behind the Rebirth series, and hope that Konami continues with them for other series, but this entry left something to be desired.
  7. You'll need to really love your 'Vania to get the most out of this. [Mar 2010, p.72]

Exactly what we need more of. Give us more classic game play with the audio/visual polish of modern gaming. New ideas are cool too, but throwing nostalgia without the pain of having to look at those often ugly games is genius. Expand

Beautiful game with awesome soundtrack. Konami has gone back to the 2D, linear style we all learned to love before SotN, and they've done a stand-up job. A number of new features help to give new life to the series. A must-play for even the most minor fans of Castlevania or of old-school platformers in general. Collapse

Old school castlevania at it's best. Unlike those metroidvania this one puts a real challange to the player and I'll keep you interested to master every level. Graphics and music are perfet! Expand

I have to say Castlevania is one of my favorite franchises and looking at a new game on the wii is refreshing. This is basically a remake of the game Castlevania: The Adventure which I never had the chance to play but it is good to know there was and remake and that there are plans of making "ReBirth" versions of many classic games. This plays as any other castlevania game with a Belmont as the main character which was a refreshing feel as a lover of this franchise. The level design is also great yet less "open world" than other games in the franchise. The difficulty is also like before, this game is challenging which I love because more recent castlevania games have become too easy in my opinion. The enemy design is also great and the classic graphics do the job. However, I did miss the song "Bloody Tears" I wonder why it as not put there. In the end this is one of the best wiiware titles and completely worth purchasing Expand

This game is a great entry into the Castlevania series and a lot of fun to play through from beginning to end. It is challenging and rewarding and really well put together. It you like the series in its original incarnations, you will love the superior treatment that this Wiiware exclusive was given. It is too bad that more companies didnt give their old games this kind of treatment. Gargoyles Quest and such would have been excellent additions to the system as well. Expand
