  • Summary: [WiiWare] Also known as "Dr. Mario & Germ Buster" The doctor is in! Mario takes a break from his adventuring ways and once again dons his stethoscope for a new generation of germ-battling mayhem. In addition to the classic mode of using vitamins to exterminate viruses, you'll find two battle modes and an online multiplayer mode where you can hone your skills against players from around the world. Feel like challenging a friend who doesn't have Dr. Mario Online Rx? Then the WiiWare-exclusive Friend Battle Demo is just what the doctor ordered. Or maybe you'd like some help taking on those nasty viruses? Try out Virus Buster, where four players can simultaneously move capsules simply by pointing at them with a Wii Remote controller. Any way you look at it, Dr. Mario Online Rx is a prescription for fun that everyone can enjoy. [Nintendo] Expand

For a $10 download Dr. Mario Online Rx is still one heck of a package, complete with online, worldwide rankings, some simple communication options for quick-messaging pre-match, and even the ability to send an online-only demo of the game to your Wii console friends so they can play with you; yet another awesome addition to this package.
  2. A great puzzler and the sort of title we'd like to see more of on WiiWare. [July 2008, p.83]
  3. If you've been waiting for a WiiWare game to download, Dr. Mario's got the cure – and it won't set your wallet back to Medicaid levels either.
  4. Dr. Mario looks great, sounds great and plays great, just like the original did 18 years ago, and the inclusion of online multiplayer adds value.
  5. A solid puzzle game with some cleverly designed extras. [Aug 2008, p.117]
  6. This game will be fun for those who enjoy challenging puzzles, but overall it doesn't feel like a very generous remake. Online gameplay is the main reason to buy it again.
  7. Don't be fooled by the pointer controls or other fripperies. [Aug 2008, p.75]

I love dr. Mario and for only 10 bucks this game is well worth it. Virus buster is really fun and it still has that awesome music dr. has always had..

We love this game. Two of us love the old skoll Doc Mario, while another digs the Virus Buster. I love how the Miis twist along too. The online matches are fun except I keep losing but I can't really blame the game for that. The one thing I did not like was the lack of 2 player options to play with or without trash dumps to the other player. It also would be nice if it kept track of non-online multiplayer stats. I should give it a 10 anyway because it is good and it is only $10, but I'm not. Expand

A solid version of the classic puzzler Dr. Mario for a good price. Online multiplayer is included, along with a twist on the original making use of the Wii Remote motion controls. The graphics and music are heavily inspired by the Nintendo 64 edition, but with a polished look and feel appropriate on Wii. Addictive fun! Expand

Great game. Just like I remember for the NES. Also love the online battle mode. Always gives me somebody new/more challanging to compete against. Don't like the pointer version. They should not of messed with a good thing. That does not stop me from playing the traditional game constantly... A Must for any classic gamer!!!! Expand

The addition of the Virus Buster is a nice addition, but the Nintendo 64 version of the game is far superior with better graphics, music and more mode. This version only has 2 player mode, the N64 has 4. One step forward, two steps back. Expand
