  • Summary: [WiiWare] Earth's empty cans have been brought to life by the Cannoids, an alien race determined to destroy the planet. Only Mack, a technician from the recycling facility Plant 530, stands in their way as Earth's last line of defense. Step into Mack's shoes in this guided first-person shooter as he takes on the invading aliens with only his trusty recycle cannon and a can-do attitude. Blast and vacuum (yes, vacuum) your way to victory, keeping in mind that every shot counts. Your ammo also doubles as your health, and every enemy you destroy leaves behind Can Energy that you can vacuum up and use as ammo. Uncomplicated controls (including optional use of the Wii Zapper accessory) give everyone the chance to save the planet, while advanced tactics like consecutive hit combos and the tough Challenge mode give even the best players a run for their money. Are you ready to step up and put a dent in their cans? [Nintendo] Expand

  1. As a lightgun-shooter game is, hands down, superior to the other ones of WiiWare, but it cannot compare with retail games of the genre, both in action and story.
  2. 70
Ultimately a decent design, just not really all that impressive in the end. Spending ten dollars for just three levels of blasting away at old garbage, even alien-animated sentient garbage, feels like an uneven investment.
  3. Players might be put off by the short length and lack of multiplayer -- which means it probably won't get as much playtime after the first runthrough by anyone but high score junkies, but if you're a fan of the genre it's worth a look.
  4. Shooting tin cans hasn't got any more exciting over the years in this forgettable lightgun game.
  5. On a console that's hardly lacking in excellent on-rails shooters - Darkside Chronicles and the soon-to-be-released Sin and Punishment 2 among them - and interesting, lovely-looking downloadable games, 530 Eco Shooter has no place.
  6. A huge disappointment. [Apr 2010, p.92]
  7. Some enemies that weren't can-based would have been even nicer. [Mar 2010, p.73]
