This is easily the greatest gaming compilation of all time. Forget the hype of Halo, or Killzone, this is real gaming. I'm sick and tired of games' fates being decided by incompetent reviewers. This fact this doesn't have a perfect score is criminally disgusting. I wonder what a Halo Trilogy would get? This IS the greatest series of First Person Shooters ever made, the standard has been set and any intelligent gamer is still waiting for it to be broken 8 yrs later. Retro, we salute you! Expand

One of the best game compilations ever and definetely som e of the best games ever. Hopefully this, the conduit, SMG2, Metroid:Other M and the next LoZ convince everyone that the wii isn't just for 5 year olds and old people in need of hand-eye co-ordination. Simply great graphics, incredible gameplay and unbelievable sound. Greatest gaming set since Mario All-Stars and the Orange box.

This might be the single best thing in this generation of gaming, on any platform. Every single room is a puzzle, every fight is challenging and requires cleverness and strategy, and the games are deep, huge, and never boring. The graphics are obviously a bit underwhelming by 2010 standards, but the visual and sound design is still awesome, and switching between Crysis and Metroid Prime is proof that gameplay matters a lot more than graphics. If these games were in HD, this disc would have blown the doors off every GOTY award. For the first time in a long time, my PC and PS3 are collecting dust while the Wii gets all the attention. Expand

What a fantastic package. The updated controls really make a difference - compared to the first iterations of the first two games using the Cube pad, the remote is a huge step up. I really enjoyed the first two on the cube, this is better simply due to the improved controls. To have all three titles on one disk for $50, best deal there is to be had on a Nintendo system. All three titles still look great and play just as silky smooth as the originals. I can find no fault with anything here - if you like FPS and have a WIi - doesn't matter if you already own all three (like me) - this is worth the purchase. A must own. Expand

Jeez. Where do I start? First of all, this is an amazing series of games, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. Also, this is also a spectacularly awesome deal, too. 60$ for three blockbuster games, each scoring over a 90 on the ratings? Yes! The control scheme has been worked to perfection and the graphics and control scheme have been updated for the first two games as well. The actual box is more fun than some games because it has that sweet artbook and is a collector's item in itself. Now the first two games include the addictive badge system while still keeping the fun item collecting. With addictive and fluid gameplay, great graphics, epic storylines, an amazing control scheme, and the fact that it is the best deal in gaming since the Orange Box to boot, this is easily one of, if not the, best wii game out there to date. GET IT. You wont regret it. Ha! I made a rhyme! I am amazing! Expand

After playing through all 3 mutliple times prior and now getting the trilogy as a bundle. This definately is a great excuse to get back in there with a slightly new experience and more artwork to earn. I love these games, and they are better than originally released. Personally I loved echoes the most. It brought me back to metroid and super metroid with the difficulty of playing through the first time. Expand

It would be easy for Nintendo to just scrap together a quick compilation of the Metroid Prime series on the Wii for a quick buck, but we'd still love it. These games were fantastic back then and are even better now, thanks to the Wii-Remote's improved controls. Aside from the obvious answer of more, there is hardly a thing that could be improved about these games. Those that have already played the first two Prime games and didn't really care for them should still check it out thanks to the improved controls, and even those that have played them before can probably find even more great times in reliving these classics. It's a cheap 10/10, but I'd be insane to give anything less. Expand

The Metroid Prime Trilogy is a compilation of three fantastic first-person shooters/adventures for the price of one. Each of them offers their own experience and atmosphere that must be experienced to be believed. The exploration is exciting and the action heart-pounding. The game play variation is what gives it that powerful Nintendo feel. You'll be platforming, solving puzzles and defeating massive bosses all in a short period of time. If you've played all three games before, this compilation is worth is for all the unlockable content. Note, though, that the games themselves are not very different from their originals. Expand

I can't stop laughing at the Jacob P. review; I'm seriously wiping tears away. Why didn't you just stop playing if your wrist started hurting? The mind boggles... Anyway, I love this port. This is exactly was this franchise needed! The weird control scheme on Gamecube always kinda bugged me, but I really love the third one. So, all of a sudden, BAM: Wii controls for all three! Metroid prime trilogy is worth every dollar. You get 3 games for 50 dollars. Not only is this a good deal you get to play 3 incredible games. There is over 80 to a 100 hours of game play spanning over 3 games. Retro studios improved the controls, graphics and difficulty for all 3 games and add bonus content for long time fans. This box set is great for new comers who has never played any of the games. The game play in the Metroid Prime series is responsive tight and very well thought out. The music is ambient and alien like and very unique. The graphics are beautiful and the story is true to other games in the series. This box set is a must buy for all Wii owners and Metroid fans. I loved every Metroid Prime game since they were released with Corruption being the best of the three, but this was the very best thing Nintendo could have done with this amazing Trilogy. The first two are probably two of the best videogames I have played since 1982. I am replaying Prime now and it has barely aged. It still feels organic and lush. Echoes is also simply amazing. Unfortunately, the cracks start to show up for Corruption, which unfortunately feels compromised (there is talking in it) and dated (boss arenas are lame). I would like to state first and foremost that I am a huge Metroid fan. I have all three Metroid Prime games in their original form. That didn't stop me from buying this, the best deal in gaming since The Orange Box. All the titles benefit from the updates, with widescreen 16:9 presentation and motion control added for the older games, the once-gamecube-exclusive titles look, and play even better. I will not lie, I was skeptical about this package. But I can confirm this for you, this package, is worth the $50 it costs. Expand

While the original 2 prime games were on gcn there was no dual analog scheme. This has been rectified on wii. The first thing i did was change some options to make the controls better. Change A to jump and B to fire and also set to pro mode as this allows you to lock on to a target and shoot something else and still shoot at the lock on target if you wish. This is also hardly a childish game and i'd never deprive anyone of experiencing such a great series.Fantastic sci-fi story. Ominous music and yes if there was room online should have been added to multi-player. Sadly wii online has those darn friend codes and is quite backwards compaired to xbox live or playstation network. To bad this arrived AFTER corruption. In japan they sold prime 1 and 2 separately and at full price so this having everything prime for a mere $49 is a phenomenal deal, especially considering how poorly the cube did most people will be playing them for the first time. Even though i own prime 1,2 on gcn and 3 on wii this is still a must buy for revamping the controls to allow you to move and shoot in any direction at any time on a dime. BUY THIS GAME. Expand

A great compilation of three awesome games. If you've never played a Metroid Prime game before, this is by far the best way to experience them. And if you have played the games, the new motion controls and other additions to Prime 1 and 2 make this worth a purchase. It's too bad they couldn't have added more to Prime 3, like possibly some sort of expansion, but Prime 3 was still a great game when it came out and still is a great one here. I give my highest recommendations. Expand

The motion controls are the selling point of this title, but it's the triple-A titles that these games have garnered in the past that makes them sell. You can easily spend 30 hours on each game for the storyline and an extra 10 each for 100% completion. On top of that is a collector's item: sketches of in-game enemies and characters in their early states (and they actually look very good). The only thing unfortunate is that they're left in their entirety, so people who have already finished each game (like me) once don't get anything new, except for a graphic update in Prime 1 (e.g., Thardus battle was graphically changed slightly) and some playthrough balancing in Prime 2 (e.g., Spider Ball Guardian was an extremely hard boss at its early point in the game; he's thankfully easier now) for some good measure (no online multiplayer for Prime 2, but that was a dead end either way, TRUST ME). The only thing you can't deny is that every one of these games were near-perfect when released, and you really can't miss the series this time around. Even better, it's the price of one game, and you got roughly 120+ hours to play it. Expand

This is the Wii's best collection of games. Metroid Prime was one of the stand-out games from the Gamecube, and both sequels live up to the first. If you've not played the Prime series before, this is the time to dive in. The motion controls improve the first two titles, both of which were phenomenal at the time of their release. There are few games that can get 50+ hours out of you, but this set will. There is never a dull moment, with detailed worlds and environments from the snowy Phendrana Drifts to the savage Pirate Homeworld. 5/5, something truly special. Expand

I want to post an honest review of this game. I greatly enjoyed Metroid Prime for the Gamecube in 2002. However, because of this new version complete with Wii controls, I know have pains in my wrist that I've never had before. I think the right thing to do is let others know what's happened to me. Maybe it doesn't affect others like it does myself, but I believe that I have a responsibility to share my experience with this game in a honest and unbiased manner. So yes, I now have troubles with my wrist. The Wii is the top selling home console to date, and I imagine the draw is the Wii motion controls. It's in the opinion of some people that the controls of the Wii allow precision, and with the new peripheral Wii Motion Plus, that's certainly true. But is Metroid really a precision based game? If you were a sniper and needed to assassinate someone from far away, I imagine that's when precision would come into play. If you're a seamstress and trying to poke a thread through a needle, precision would be needed there too. But firing an arm cannon at monsters from point blank range? I think Retro Studio's heart was in the right place, but I feel they overdid it. The Wii controls truly do hurt my wrist as well as tire my arm. I need to lie my arm down in order to play this title. I've never had problems with my wrist before or any kind of signs of carpal tunnel syndrome, but this game really does, no joke, and with all seriousness make the game nigh unplayable, let alone fun. So much so I've only played the game in bursts, and now that I've beaten it and can trace my wrist ailments to it, I know I'll never pick it up again. Even then though, I don't know if this would still be worth the full price tag. The games in the Prime series came out in 2002, 2004 and in 2007. I beat Metroid Prime way back in 2002 and it's sequel in 2004. They're great games, but they're old games. Plus, I was quite young back then. I feel as if there are more grown-up titles out there and this is best suited for children. But the carpal tunnel syndrome comes into play again. If you're a parent and thinking of buying this for your child, please reconsider. Your child may very well develop carpal tunnel syndrome or some other arm and wrist problems. If you truly love your child, ignore their cries of protest and give them a hockey stick instead. They should be outdoors, not destroying their wrists (and any future working with a computer) playing this. If you want a good title for the Wii, pick up Wii Fit. The gaming website IGN gave this compilation a 9.5 out of 10. If you read the user reviews though for the other Metroid game with Wii controls, you'll find the reviews are much less favourable. I'm not chiding you; please go the the respective webpages and look. One final thing before I finish: the first two Metroid games came with substantial bonuses. In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, there was a multi-player component which, if you're familiar with the Gamecube's lack of online play, was only local. The bonus in Metroid Prime was even sweeter: providing you had a GBA, you could play the original Metroid; the game that started it all. In this compilation however, the multi-player remains still only local; which stikes me as a wasted opportunity to bring motion controls into a setting where precision would've actually been substantial. Also, the original Metroid for the NES is missing. There's always Metroid: Other M to look forward to. It looks to be a worthwhile reinvention of the series. God, I love innovation in all it's forms. 3 Great games in one box for a great price, but unlike valve's orange box there is nothing new here to make me want to purchase it, yes my gamecube is long gone but sadly i have no incentive to replay these games. Also there’s nothing new here either, the orange box had three new games (plus hl2 and episode 1) for £30, this on the other hand are just 3 repackaged old games with flashier graphics. Gameplay - superb, Story- excellent, Design - Brilliant. if i bought this package because i never played the 3 metroid prime games it would a 10, but because i already have and traded them in its a mere 6 for the fact there’s no reason to re-buy this package. I give the games an 8 because of the value you get for $60. Each by themselves, these days, would be a 7 or 6.5 IMO. The puzzles can be fun, but quite often become repetitive break down the flow of the game. The combat really is lacking compared to modern shooters. There is no cover to use for flanking or dodging, and firefights often consist of powering up your gun, firing, and doing it over again. I honeslty believe a lot of sandbox games these days have better shooting experiences, and these are adventure FPS' Expand

Metroid Prime Trilogy is the compilation of the three Metroid Prime titles and it is easily one of the greatest game compilations out there. The controls for the first two games have been upgraded for the Wii since they were originally released for the GameCube which takes time to get used to. Other updates include shorter load times, upgraded textures, bloom lighting, altered visual effects, and 16:9 widescreen capabilities; however, the head-up display is always displayed at the original aspect ratio, causing it to be stretched horizontally when in widescreen mode. Additionally, the award system from Corruption was incorporated into the first two games. In response to complaints from players and critics about Echoes' high difficulty during some of the boss battles, the difficulty of the encounters were lowered. The game is inessential for those who already have the three games, but for those who are new to the franchise, this is a great place to start. Expand

Metroid Prime remains as stellar a Trilogy as any ever in gaming history. This is the first FPS game I have ever loved and still a joy to play. Though it may be a tad pricey to find this in good condition it is probably still worth it. These three games are excellent, with the superb Prime and Corruption and the mediocre Echoes all in one fancy package with uniform updated controls for all three games. The only down side (and this may sound funny) is that they fixed many of the bugs and glitches found in the Gamecube versions of Prime and Echoes. This removes most of the super fun sequence breaks and the games lose a little bit of replay value as a result. Expand

The Metroid story is one that is close to many hearts. Any time you take something so beloved and mess with it, you are taking a HUGE risk. With the Prime trilogy, they are taking the side scrolling game, and putting it into a 3D FPS game. With the release of the Wii came the motion control, and with the re-release of Metroid Prime 1 & 2, along with 3, all in one package, all with the Prime 3 motion control. While each game was fun alone, the Trilogy package brings it all together, and makes one of the best games of any system. Even if you are not a fan of the Metroid story, this is still a game far worth picking up. Expand

The easiest review in the world! The original Metroid Prime is well worth a 10 as a stand-alone title, as it is one of the best adventure games ever made. So... score sorted then. If, however, you have played the first game to death and are more interested in the sequels, here are a few things you should mull over. Metroid Prime 2 is a mostly fantastic title. The light / dark world idea is really well done, and it develops that isolated atmosphere that defines the Metroid series even further. Unfortunately, MP2 is severely hamstrung by it's truly ball-breaking difficulty. If you're properly up for a challenge, though, it's all gold! Metroid Prime 3 has other, more pressing issues. The game suffers from a serious case of deja-vu. Almost everything in this game has been seen before, and it all just feels a bit under-inspired and workman like. So there you go; One all-time classic, one hard-as-nails slice of intensity and one solid-but-ultimately-dull clone. If, however, you have never played the original Metroid Prime, well... BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY! Expand

Quite simply, this is the best of the best when it comes to modern game design. The design of the Metroid Prime series is impeccable, requiring the player fully invest both quick reflexes and brain power to solve puzzles as well as the scan and remember key areas all though out the game environment. So is the game worth it? Yes I had only had played the first one on the gamecube before this so both 2 and three are new to me. I do recognize though that this is a second release of these games so you may or may not have them in you collection already. The controls are good for the wii but I do feel it loses a point for not having the option of the classic controller come on nintendo the first two had it already so you should have left it as a option because not everyone is used to we controllers. The graphics a good for the wii and even though 2 of these are ports from the gamecube they look great even next 2 xbox360 and ps3 games. The story is a ten out of ten and the length on all these games is great. If you ask me spend 60 dollars on mw3 or 100 dollars on a copy on metroid trilogy I would say get metroid trilogy a better story and just a all around awesome package. So as for why is it a 8 instead one point for not leaving putting in classic controller support and another point for being a port of 2 titles you can pick up and play on the cube and metroid 3 was released during the dawn of the wii. If you own all three titles already skip this one if you don't spend your cash and buy this one now it is worth every penny. Expand

Three already great games combined into a single disc trilogy.. Whats not to like about this? I just wish that Nintendo would show their other franchises the same love. Also i wish that they would make games that you download via the Wii Shop channel that you put on the SD card playable on the 3DS or DSiXL/Dsi.. That'd be awesome.

Anyone who likes first person shooter games with an adventure sense to it will most probably love all of these 3 games, the Metroid Prime collection is truly some of the best its genre has to offer. It has an overwhelming storyline and a very complete background story that even if it might not have much to do with the traditional Metroid trama, it brings an innovating, interesting and greatly developed plot that is evidence of a very well thought game. The characteristic dark atmosphere along with the breathtaking and massive landscapes introduce the gamer into a fantastic and new universe that will change your perspective of videogames and even movies, presenting very wild natural environments and simultaneously highly sophisticated technological spaceships. In addition, we can see an amazing variety of creatures and monsters to interact with during these games, all of them different and creative with a very cool design and appearance. A huge variety of weapons and ability upgrades also contribute to an entertaining experience, alongside with the admirable new Wii platform controls that provide a much more fun and intuitive way of shooting and exploring. These games all bring a marvelous original soundtrack that will give the gamer a whole new sensation when playing. This pack is simply perfect, very unique and well made, another instant classic. You are getting three award-winning games in one! This is worth every penny. The best aspect of the Metroid Prime series for me is the feeling of isolation. You are playing the lone wolf for the entire time and you really feel you like a badass when you finish that boss fight with only your wits to thank. My only downside is the constant backtracking but other than that it is an awesome game!

I loved all three of these games when they came out, now they're all in one and the first two have Wii controls? What's not to love? The Wii controls made the first two play smoother and multiplayer mode was actually fun and competitive because of the new controls. I would have given all of the games separately high scores but all together with improved controls, this can be nothing short of a 10.

  1. The bargain of the century and a great opportunity to visit a brilliant series. [Sept 2009, p.79]
  2. There's a seriously massive amount of gameplay per pound here. [Oct 2009, p.58]
  3. Three outstanding games (two of which are vastly enhanced with dead-on motion controls) available for the price of one. We can't imagine a better deal on Wii this year.
