    The main problem here is that it feels like Legends should have been a side mode in a proper Soulcalibur rather than its own game. There are some good ideas, but it doesn't feel like a complete game.
  2. At last, Namco Bandai tells the legend behind Soul Calibur with a long and funny game which has also a bad approach due to an unlucky linear gameplay, very simple visuals and a dangerous lack of variety. Soulcalibur Legends isn't as good as its predecessors but it's still an enjoyable and interesting "beat 'em up" fighting game.
  3. In the end, this game tries to evoke the fun and charm of Soul Calibur and backs it up with the signature Renaissance-era style and operatic music, but the mostly text-based story and dull, tiresome combat with the same few enemies over and over really make this pretty much a cheap cash-in.
  4. Although it wasn't the most complete Soul Calibur game I've ever played, the Wii controls, the multiplayer modes, and the storyline make it worth playing for fans of the series.

    Legends isn't a horror of a game. It's just a game that wouldn't have been greenlighted on the PS2 trying to cash in on the Wii's popularity and gullible gift-buyers.
  18. Soulcalibur Legends does offer some solid hack-'n-slash gaming that'll also make for a nice Wii tech demo to show your non-gaming friends and family over the holidays. But in the end, the title's appeal will likely expire before that half-drunk carton of egg nog sitting in your fridge.

    Re-tuning Soulcalibur’s weapons combat for hack-and-slash duty is a great idea, but Legends just doesn’t have the chops to hold the attention of hardcore adventurers for long. Moreover, fighting gamers are just left out in the cold, although Soulcalibur fans may be driven to sate their curiosity.

    Soulcalibur: Legends offers some unique ideas and could have been a great step for the Soul Calibur franchise, but as it stands now, the game doesn't feel complete.

  32. Here’s a better idea, though: Find a cheap used copy of Soulcalibur II for the Gamecube and play that on the Wii. It’s the fighting game that you expect Soulcalibur to be, it’s a deeper game, and hey… it’s got Link.

  34. Interesting motion controls can not save this action title from its poor graphics and presentation to its even worse gameplay. A total disappointment from a development team that is capable of so much more.

    While it doesn’t do anything criminal it also fails to do more than coast by on its laurels. The motion controls work better than any other game of this type and the visuals, while not stunning, are technically proficient and impressive.

    This game was amazing. it was the first one I could find where the wii controllers actually worked. When you swing left, the guy swings left. When you swing right, h swings right. Whoever is putting out reviews that gave this game a 14 can just go screw a goat. seriously. Full Review »

    I love this game. I recently got a secondhand Wii. It has 40 odd games and some classics like Mario Galaxy etc.. But which game do I like to play most? This one. Soul Calibur has easy to pick up and responsive controls- the onscreen sword responds very well to the wii remote and num chuck.

    The graphics are good, I found the story quite lightweight but entertaining. It is a good workout to play- I finish after a 20 minute session with a light sweat from swinging the remote about so much.

    As a 32 year old gamer I have played a lot of serious PC games and have lately come to appreciate the casual fun that a fun sword swinging game like this offers.

    I would give it 8 but seeing as how this game has so many miserable ratings I am upping it to 10 to push the meta up a bit. Enjoy!
