  1. Sadly no way to take your creations online but a great single player platform adventure game where you imagination is it's limits.
  2. Spore Hero is an adventure for the younger generation of the Spore fans!
  3. Spore Hero is fun for the most part, but a few frustrating annoyances mean it falls just short.
  4. Spore Hero is, without question, one of the few games that reach the summit of originality. This game is fun and the creature creation tool is great. If you enjoy the genre, or want a decent entry into the concept, Spore Hero will be an enjoyable, if simple experience into the wonderful world of action game.
  5. Nintendo Power
The game may be too easy for some, but this spin-off adventure made it to Wii mostly unscathed. [Nov 2009, p.86]
  6. Spore is an enjoyable (if slightly short) Zelda-lite adventure. However, the creation and evolution aspects -- major parts of what made the original game so impressive -- have taken a back seat to a run-of-the-mill equipment upgrade grind with some minor aesthetic variations. Spore Hero is a fun game; it’s just not necessarily a Spore game.
  7. Spore Hero is sure to win over fans of the Spore franchise, thanks to its deep creature creator modes, vibrant presentation, and unforgettable characters. Unfortunately, the whole package feels basic despite its ambitions; the fighting is too elemental in both controls and ideas, the adventure mode feels like one big fetch quest, and the missions become bland and repetitive.

Spore Hero has become a good game which also looks nice. However the game is too easy and therefore only fun for children.
  9. Spore Hero has some great features. The monster-making in and of itself is deep and satisfying, and engaging. There are tons of body parts, and the manner in which players will earn them through the quests has the potential to keep players questing away. Unfortunately, the battles and dancing games aren't nearly as well-designed, and cannot be avoided. Best for older children who aren't easily frustrated.
  10. Aside from the creature editor -which is indeed a nice touch- Spore Hero is a pretty forgettable action game: it's kind of slow paced, the minigames aren't always very good and the combat system is really poor. It's a game for kids, and that's about it.
  11. The most interesting thing from the PC original put into a simple platform game that's marred by some unexciting minigames.
  12. 65
Although with some quite good ideas, the final result is a bit disappointing. It has a design which ends up becoming repetitive, and not so well made combats.
  13. Overall, Spore Hero's not horrible or even bad for that matter, but it sure isn't great.
  14. 61
Even with the problems I’ve had in my time with Spore Hero I didn’t hate the game. The adventure offered enough encouragement to plow through thanks to the fun loving creatures you encounter along the way, and the sense of customizing to turn the main character into nearly anything you want.
  15. If you're looking to have some fun using the main characteristics of the original Spore, 'Hero' won't disappoint you, but don't expect anything like the PC version because you won't find it in here.
  16. The game uses the Wii control in a creative way and is just as cute and cozy as Spore should be. But since you can’t share your creatures online and due to some game mechanics that repeats themselves over and over again this game isn’t as fun as its big brother on PC.
  17. Creature creation is catchy, but the basic gameplay lacks depth.
  18. The adventure is a respectable length, but it's a slog getting through. The off-line Sporepedia is kind of pointless, as are the multiplayer arena battles, since battling offers no shred of enjoyment.
  19. 50
Irritatingly, this game does so little wrong apart from being average and run of the mill. The biggest irk is the lack of anything from the Spore franchise that made it stand out.
  20. 42
It's a disappointment that a franchise so (ostensibly) devoted to endless creativity could produce a game so limited in its meaningfully creative options. In the end, Spore Hero never becomes anything more than a lighthearted but uninspired platformer -- and a waste of the brand's creative potential.
  21. But it’s hard not to be disappointed that one of gaming’s true visions – of life’s multiplicity and constantly changing nature – should end up broadening itself by slumping into a worn groove of genre pieces and business dogma.
  22. It's hard to do justice to a game that doesn't even do justice to itself. Spore Hero is nothing but a good example on how to exploit a franchise in the cheapest way possible. Uneven gameplay, stupid camera controls and ridden with boring puzzles and even more boring duels does not make a good children's game. You need more than bright colors to fool us EA.
  23. Spore hits an evolutionary dead end, as the "everything sim" becomes just another dull platformer.

the game starts out promising, and ends by delivering the opposite of what it promised. GAMEPLAY: The worst part of the game. The motionthe game starts out promising, and ends by delivering the opposite of what it promised. GAMEPLAY: The worst part of the game. The motion controls are not utilized in very unique or innovative ways, in fact, it feels like they were making this for the PS2, but then decided to switch to the Wii last minute and did a haphazard job at mapping the actions to motion controls. The game feels like it has a very bad start, and when you're beginning to hope that it picks up later on, it ends, and I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing. The only good part is the creature creation, and even that is limited. It has a pretty nice feature that allows you to save many different designs, for those who get all nostalgic about their monsters, but that along with the creature creation really is the only good thing in here, everything else is either mediocre or abysmal. MUSIC: Okay, I change my mind, THIS is the worst part of the game. The music is not only a failed attempt to try and immerse you into this games somewhat interesting world, but it also sounds like it was made by a middle school kid on an electronic keyboard (well, most of them). GRAPHICS: Nothing notable, interesting aesthetics and movies, but everything else is bland. STORY: Well, it's a kids game. Overall, only get it if your kids are really young, because only they will be able to enjoy it, but don't forget to only buy it used. Full Review »

I was disappointed with this game. Once more the Wii dumb down another amazing game. If you were expecting to find similarities to the PC youI was disappointed with this game. Once more the Wii dumb down another amazing game. If you were expecting to find similarities to the PC you won't find it here. Spore hero really limited the players creativity. It took me only 6-7hours to beat this game my first time through. I wish I could get my $50 back. Full Review »

I think it's a pretty good game for my kids. I prefer the fact that there's no online sharing because it's safer in a way. I think it's a pretty good game for my kids.
