Despite its throwaway appearance, Viral Survival is probably the only WiiWare game released so far this year that warrants a second glance. That's not saying much, admittedly, but if you've got 500 points knocking about, you could do a lot worse.
  2. Viral Survival does pretty much exactly what you would expect from a high score game on WiiWare, but refreshingly the games are actually kind of fun.

Overall, I really enjoyed my time with Viral Survival. As mentioned, they do a good job of keeping the gameplay mixed up between modes and making it addictive enough to keep you coming back and wanting to play more.
  4. Viral Survival is pure arcade score attack action. What you put into it is what you get out. If that's not your thing, that's not your thing. However, I believe there's just enough depth and variety to hook someone looking for quick bursts of fun. It's challenging, addictive, and just plain ol' dandy.

Wi-Fi Connection support for uploading high scores to leaderboards rounds the package out, and it's all on sale for the Wii Shop's most reasonable rate -- five bucks. Not too bad, all around.

As a throwaway arcade game this is mildly entertaining, and nicely priced. [Apr 2011, p.78]

A competent addition to a sparsely populated niche on WiiWare. [May 2011, p.93]
