Even if you don't normally play strategy games l encourage you to at least try the demo for Anomaly Warzone Earth. It might look like another Command& Conquer or random tower defense game on the surface but there is something truly original, highly challenging, and compulsively addicting with this game. And even if you already own this game on PC or iOS, I daresay the Tactical Trials is worth a double-dip. At only 800 MS points, this is the best $10 you'll spend in the Xbox Arcade this month.

The unique tower defense hybrid Anomaly: Warzone Earth makes a smooth transition to the Xbox 360.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth does something different with the tower defense genre and does it well. You're dropped in the middle of the action and always have something to do. The Tactical Trials are a great addition to this XBLA version of the game. They are fun and make you try something else. A great game, for only 800 Microsoft Points.

An interesting blend of strategy and action, although it really needs more enemies, more missions, more scenarios and more units.

  2. Pretty original twist on a tower defense. The game utilizes ideas from Tower Defense by flipping the concept upside down, plus there are RTS elements like resources gaining / spending, plus there's a bunch of action elements represented by controlling a commander who's equipped with power-ups to shift enemies. The story will take you approx. 6 hours to complete but if you're hungry for more, there's a set of survival modes to unlock and some kind of virtual missions challenging you with puzzle-like goals to achieve. Enough for a 800 points game. Plus it's localized to German and several other languages, like Japanese (!). Expand
  3. "Anomaly Warzone Earth" is an XBLA game (that costs 800MS points), with gameplay and features based on a Tower Defense game with some modifications. The story is centered on an alien spaceship that falls to Earth, as its pieces fall into cities as Baghdad and Tokyo, that create energy domes (called anomalies), which obscure the view from the outside world. Your mission as a Commander mechanized unit, is to investigate this phenomenon, leading a unity of military vehicles. In the gameplay, which can be defined as a mix of RTS gameplay and Tower Defense, in essence, you have the role only of the commander of the units, and can perform multiple functions (and new emerge later in the game), serving as the units repair, "factory" and upgrade of you team military units (each one with its advantages and disadvantages), and issue areas of concealment, through a defined map with multiple routes, and you decide the route to the units follow, while collecting repair credits (dropped by stealth bombers), and alien minerals along the way, as they engage the enemy defense towers (there are several types), to finally reach the goal of the stage. The game has graphics viewed from above, in a 3/4 perspective, that are good, but nothing that stands out - the sounds and music are good to (better than the graphics), and fit the game well, but the highlight is in the gameplay, as a reversed Tower Defense game, with dynamic actions, and which goes through areas of the cities, as the story unfolds... destroyng enemies and collecting the minerals you gather more credits, which are used to purchase new units and to upgrade the existing ones. Because of the different approach to the genre, I recommended this game for fans of Tower Defense games - with a fast gameplay, and the adequate price, it's an addictive XBLA, despite the overall simplicity being a great option for those people. My score: 7.5 / 10.0. Collapse
