Graphics alone should merit this game a high score... add the additional different modes and you have a very fun game that will keep you hooked. There are some glitches here and there but for a game this size and built on a new engine.. its to be expected and the best part is that it will be fixable through patches.

Campaign is ok, the MP is the best on the market, I have played every call of duty game to date, but comparing BF3 to COD is like comparing a Ferarri to a Chevette, its just a better all around game and is the best looking shooter on the 360, also the controls have been improved alot from the earlier BF games, I say Bravo to Dice, good job.

The user reviews posted are highly biased from a fanboy perspective. 10 from the BF fanboys, and 1 from the Cod chaps. Neither score is representitive of the games quality.

If you intend on buying BF3 for the campaign, I strongly suggest that you rent instead as it is an uninspired standard shooter from start to finish (which isn't very long). Multiplayer is where it is at. BF3 is

If you intend on buying BF3 for the campaign, I strongly suggest that you rent instead as it is an uninspired standard shooter from start to finish (which isn't very long). Multiplayer is where it is at. BF3 is certainly worth a look for its MP component, and there is a lot of fun to be had here. From my perspective, if you didn't enjoy Bad Company 2, then you aren't going to be won over by this instalment, but for the best part, it is worth a look. The weapons feel tight and punchy, the vehicles feel very distinct, and the graphics are some of the best avaiable on consoles. Unfortunately as a console game, BF3 fails to deliver its true potential, as the limit of 24 players on such huge maps really does limit the game from delivering the full on scale of war that it should. The pace is certainly a lot slower than that of COD games, and there is far less class customisation. Over all, BF3 is a fun, but lacking experience which only supports the fact that we need a new generation of console to provide the 64 players that games like Battlefield really deserve.

The gameplay is the perfect thing to scratch your FPS itch, the thrill i get from playing a game of rush in the stunning environments isn't even close to being matched and is twice as good as Bad company 2, sequels to almost any game are looked down on because of the bar being set too high by fans and critics, take it from someone who has dipped in the pool of every type of game and franchise we have access to, you want a thrilling game? You want a war? BF3 is DEFINITELY the game to get. Expand

Sound design is amongst the best in video games, seriously listen to a wall collapse near you, it's unreal. Especially when boosted by a pair of nice headphones. The game is absolutely beautiful, and the high res pack solves all graphical problems I had with the beta. It's just flat out crisper and the player models and environments look richer with detail. Its an amazing feeling to be defending an MCOM and feel a huge explosion and turn around to see the building you are in now has a huge hole in the wall. It is so immersive. The campaign is akin to a blockbuster movie more so than a huge adventure, but thats how fps games are in todays industry. Anyone saying this experience is less than an 8 needs to stop basing their review on how well they play online and start basing it on the game itself. Multiplayer is where the design flaws hurt the most. The maps are absolutely huge which would be great if there were more than 24 players per game. That is not a dice flaw but what is a dice flaw is that proning exists. There is no reason for proning in this game, it basically makes it impossible to find anyone in team deathmatch and you almost always get killed by some guy proning hidden away. Next there is absolutely to ways to deal with a camper in this game. The explosives in this game are unrealistically weak so you basically just have to try to run into where they are camping and use fast reflexes to kill them....but this never works. So team deathmatch is not a viable option in this game. Conquest is far too big of a game for 24 players so it is very slow paced and vehicles are useless. Which leads me to another point: they don't have jet/heli tutorials in the game. Rush is the only reasonalbe mode to play but it is always better to be on the defending team than the opposing as it is also ridden with campers. A lot of people will try to justify these annoyances by claiming that it is realistic.....the campaign says otherwise. Expand

Bad game...framerate is terrible (play batman, then switch to this and you'll see what I mean), single player is boring, servers have a hard time accepting connections, and then when you finally get in you're playing in a blue colored world where the maps are too large for the number of players. Already listed it on eBay - don't waste your money.

Many segments of the campaign force you to engage in tiresome tasks such as waiting for team-mates to open doors while you stand idly with your weapon lowered. I expected vast, giant battles that encouraged the player to experiment in large maps with huge varieties of weapons and vehicles. Not a messy linear, poorly written generic war shooter. Fortunately, the multiplayer experience is polished with love and care, with enough guns, customisation and ranking systems to keep the hardened MMS veteran in the game for some time. The maps are also quite good, with the giant battles I was expecting in the campaign (more so if you purchase some of the DLC packs). The graphics are also quite good, but keep in mind that you need an Xbox 360 Hard Drive to enjoy decent textures; if not, your visual experience will suffer. overall, a decent game marred by an extremely sub-standard campaign. Personally I'm forever searching for a multi-faceted experience, one which is rich and engaging. The highlights of the last couple of years have been Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption for me. Never got into a multiplayer for more than an hour before, although I should maybe have given them more time. The single player is as bad as the reviews state. It feels poorly executed, enemies pile into scenarios in an unconvincing way, the engine doesn't suit it and it just feels wrong. That, along with the cheap deaths, makes it frankly irritating.
Having being hyped by friends about the multiplayer, young and old, with different expectations, that fact that a cross section of people I knew were raving about this piqued my interest. The multiplayer is amazing. The openness of some maps, close quarters of others, animation, control feel and every other aspect is spot on. Sometimes, when concentrating on individual aspects, reviews can miss the overall vibe and feel of a game, the most improtant aspect. This one is superb, it nails it and drags you right in. I'm forever chasing the next attachment or ribbon, examining tactics, shouting at the TV, punching the air. As someone who thought I was a single player only, tempted to cancel my xbox live gold, this has fully converted me. The sheer depth and addtive quality is really immersive. Hope this helps. Has to be a 9 as a solid SP would have surely been possible - but 10 for the only aspect most will touch....

I really don't get all the people who say "OMFG BF3 is LIKE TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS VeRSIONS", please don't be a hypocrite to COD. The campaign i found while some parts of it was good, it was ultimately short and i found it to be a copy in Black Ops Campaign. Why? Same type of interrogation, then they both somehow find out where the hell the bomb/evil villain is... Seriously... don't just copy BF3. Next onto Co-op, it's really nothing special. I liked it, but once you've done it on hard, then there is really no point in doing it again, unless you really want to unlock every weapon for multiplayer. And even then all you do is grind the last mission for points... Now onto the multiplayer :) I absolutely love the ground vehicles! The flying vehicles however are alot different. When you start out on the game you CANNNOT KILL the flying vehicles. You have to unlock the engineer to a degree in order to even shoot things out of the sky without having to run to the AA guns, in that time smart pilots would have shot the crap out of you... (Engineers get a RPG/bazooka for tanks quickly so no problems there). Also having a max party of 4 (your squad) is severely limiting when you want to play with more mates. Even if you're in the same squad when you want to join, YOU WILL GET PUT ON DIFFERENT TEAMS! How the hell does that work? The servers/bugs seriously need sorting out. I'd love to put a 7.5 as thats what i really think the game is. You have to judge the whole game on everything! Not just the multiplayer which is very good. Expand

Not having cold blooded and stuff like that was uncomfortable at first but once you get used to the game it's brilliant and a far better gaming experience that any fps I've played before. It's refreshing to see people really trying to stick to the objective and not worrying too much about k/d ratio. Rush is also a great game mode.

My real rating is 8.5, but can't so rounded it up. It would be a 9 but the re-spawn system is a little annoying, and helicopter third person view is annoying too. Recon also seems to be an underpowered class. A bit disappointed that the critics review give it less than MW2.5 but ultimately I'm pleased I didn't waste money on that (or BLOPS) and can enjoy BF3.

Amazing destruction and team work. The only reason i didnt give this a 10 was because of the team deatchmatch mode, idk if the spawn's are just messed up or it was supposed to be like that, because the team deatchmatch feels like cod, people spawn everywhere, forcing you to keep on moving and use cheap tactics to kill people. If you want to survive you have to use bs like rpg's. I am forced to pull out my pistol often in tdm because of not having enough time to reload and have also had to dropshot quite a lot. I have bought this game to play tactically, but lets just say I dont want to play any other mode and have to play tdm why do I have to play it like cod? I think a good way to solve this problem would be to have 2 deployment areas like in other modes, that would fix the problems. Another problem I have is that certain guns are extremely overpowered and have no recoil (famas and F-2000). Maybe they made tdm like this to attract cod fans idk. Another thing I noticed is that why is there no option to quit to multiplayer menu in pre game lobbies? What multiplayer game does not have this option? This is fine for pc when you can just alt tab, but on consoles you either are forced to wait till the match starts or you have quit to dashboard, why could they not have implemented this basic feature that every multiplayer game has? Did they forget about it or something? Also why cant they just patch it now? They seem to release massive patches but cant they just code something to leave? Amazing game but I hope DICE have learned some lessons from this game which they can use to make the next game better. Expand

Huge maps. A little laggy at times, but nowhere near as bad as MW3. At least EA is making an effort to create games that people will actually want to play for an extended period of time (unlike certain other devs). This game isn't the greatest FPS out there, but at least it's not a complete waste of money.

What can i say about this game. I am blown away by the leaps that DICE take after every iteration. Lets start with campaign. Although the campaign is very short it does have its exiting moments. JUST the simple fact that the game looks the way it does given the SHEER SIZE of these maps its amazing. THE framerate isnt 60 but its a very very SMOOTH 30. At times i feel that its even higher but um not sure. The LIGHTING is BEAUTIFUL. Ive never seen lighting in a game that even comes close to this game. THe shadowing is also BEAUTIFUL. GRAPHICS this game gets a 10 out of 10. Just for the sheer size of the maps and the way the game looks it deserves it. OFF TO SOUND . Heres another area where the game is unmatched. COD series you have a long way to go to catch up . The sound in this game is the best ive ever heard. BC2 and Killzone series take 2nd place. This game sounds perfect. From the guns to the sound of the buildings ruble coming down to the explosions nothing comes close. The sound gets a 10 out of 10.

Over all id give this game between a 9.7-10. It deserves it . FUN Factor this game gets a 10 out of 10. Great great and VERY DEEP multiplayer that is addictive and DEEPER then the COD series. FOr people on the fence of getting this game GET IT.

But seeing the trailers to bf3, I thought I would give it a try and see if it could relight the flame, and boy did it ever! Graphics: sublime. Sound: probably the most realistic I have ever heard in a game. Gameplay: Tough for the uninitiated, but very satisfying. Being rusty with FPS games, I usually have a negative score at the end of the round and die a lot. But here's the thing: I don't care because I'm still having fun. The fact that running and gunning is suicidal in this game makes you play smarter and basically feel more like an actual soldier. I only have two complaints: Firstly, the servers are often broken and (at least for me) it is not uncommon for the game to crash when the level changes. Secondly, in big games it can be really tough to get a vehicle, particularly jets/helicopters. This means that for the average pub player it is very hard to have opportunities to practice and improve your skills in flying. I still haven't been able to kill anything with a jet, especially since you only have bullets to fire until you earn better weaponry. There really should be a sandbox map where one can just fly around for practice.... if this actually exists, can someone direct me to it! :P

There is nothing wrong with the campaign other than its short length, but honestly what else is to be expected from an FPS these days. And who buys a game like this for it's campaign anyway? If you want a challenge though, just play it in hard - it will take you about double the time to finish it.

However, don't buy BF3 for the campaign. If you buy it, get it for the multiplayer. It is one of the best online multiplayer experiences I've ever had. Camping for the whole game is hard. Vehicles are amazing. Unlocking weapon attachments is fun. Of course, there are the weapons themselves. There are four classes; Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon. Each class has exclusive weapons and gadgets. For example, only the Recon class has sniper riffles and the ability to place mobile spawn points, but the Engineer class is the only class with the ability to deploy rocket launchers and place land mines. As you level up each individual class, you unlock weapons and gadgets for that class. For example, at level 2 for the Support class you gain access to C4. Along with each class, you level up your rank. Leveling up your ranks takes time, but the rewards are worth it. With each rank, you gain a new dog tag. You also get rank-specific rewards like PDWs and camo. Now, I'll talk briefly about the vehicles. They all handle amazing, whether it's a tank or a jet or an attack helicopter. All can carry more than one person, and they can be leveled up like classes. All in all, if you're looking for a fun war experience, BF3 is the game for you. Expand

By that i mean, they start have you do impossible stuff, stuff that could never happen in real life, and well this really detracts from the Battlefield style. It isn't very long at all and in my opinion isn't to good at all. it has some good aspects like the Fighter mission and the tank mission, but it doesn't give anything new or aww inspiring.

    Multiplayer-
Now onto the good stuff, the reason we Battlefield Fanboys" bought the game....Multiplayer.
The multiplayer in Battlefield 3 brings brings a lot of stuff from Battlefield 2 and BF:BC2 and brings them together. Honestly in my opinion they tried to hard to make this game a COD killer instead of just doing what they do best, again as they did in the campaign, they just made the game a bit to "modern warfare ish" the game play seems a bit smoother than BFBC2 but at the same time they took away from the "everything is destructible" that BFBC2 had. In BFBC2 by the end of a match, the entire map could be destroyed. while here in BF3 in the more urban maps, most of the buildings cant be destroyed, you can destroy walls and parts of the buildings but not the entire building. Vehicular warfare- all of the vehicles work well in this game, They brought back the jets which are very cool to fly, and the choppers have new stuff to use.
instead of blowing up right away now, most vehicles will actually be disabled first then blow up, by this i mean you can disable a tank and it cannot move, but the turret will still be active and can still shoot, or you can take out one of the 2 engines on jets and choppers, which is a very cool added aspect to the game To Sum it up, this game is very good, but could have been so much more.
I mean they did a fine job with this game, but they just Modern Warfared the game a bit to much, and the Maps just don't feel right compared to BFBC2
I would recommend this game to anyone, but if you haven't checked Battlefield Bad Company 2 yet, i would say go for that first because it is a much better game

Second, the gameplay and maps are not designed for so few players. 24 works for some maps, but many feel vast and empty without the full 64 players that they enjoy on the PC. If they're going to release the game on consoles without upping the player number, then the maps need to be changed.

Other than that, it's a phenomenal game. It's a much slower pace and larger scale than Call of Duty, but these are good things if you prefer executing more refined strategies and tactics with your team. The gameplay is far more diverse, both because the maps allow full use of all the classes (snipers actually can behave like snipers), and because the scope and design of the maps encourages shifting tactics.

BF3 is a powerful game that allows huge maps and tactical game play. You have to know that when you play this game you are better off working as a squad then just running and gunning like an arcade game. Buildings actually break apart and collapse. The campaign is slightly short on delivering based on the hype. Don't get me wrong, I like the series but I just hoped for more in the campaign considering it has its own disc for Campaign. The multiplayer has been plagued with lag and rubber banding problems since release. There have been squad issues with parties trying to play together and various other issues. This brings my score down. EA says they have fixed most of it but I have not seen a huge improvement. The quality of play once you are in the maps and playing is quite high. You have to allow for bullet drop and try to lead people with your shots. No other game does that. The class leveling and player leveling being separate is nice but can be daunting to get to the next level. Feels like an eternity. The BF3 graphics are better then COD in so many ways. The lighting, details, shading and all that goes with graphics is superb. You cannot ask for a more graphically pleasing environment. Since I have only played those two games from this genre I cannot compare the graphics to other games.

If you are looking for a FPS game this holiday season I would pick BF3 over COD. Again, don't get me wrong but this is a better choice for multiple reasons. I am sure that I will get heat from all the dedicated fan boys of each game and that is fine. Again, I play both series. I like both series. However, I will tell that MW3 fell very short for me this time. So without a doubt I would choose BF3. However, if your a player that can't play tactical and it is all about your stats and kill-death ratio, go to COD and play MW3. I am sure you are a better fit for that franchise.

That changed when I went to a friend's house and saw this game being played. If you played the beta, then let me say the actual game is completely different. The beta was probably a poor marketing decision in my opinion. Anyhow, after playing other games online, my confidence in the direction that game development in general is taking had started to waver. In general rather than getting bigger and better, they were being dumbed down, to smaller and lamer. No one was ever pushing the envelope. Year after year the same games were being released that completely lacked innovation - from new installments of COD to Halo. Don't get me wrong the first Halo game was great, but then I guess they decided to rest on their laurels, something that the COD franchise has decided is a career move. While PC gamers may scoff, there is no doubt that even they see the effects of the dumbing down of games - as developers reach for a broader audience and develop their games for console and then port that to PC. To me, however, BF3 is that breath of fresh air that I've been waiting for. The maps are enormous. The weapons are fairly realistic and have selector switches. If you had asked me in 2003 when I was playing Ghost Recon I'd say that's pretty much standard, and now that it's 2011 even more so, but sadly it is not. The gameplay options are also pretty vast. There are a ton of different vehicles in which you can play around, as well as four different main classes that can be customized in different ways. You can have 12v12 which again, if you had told me 10 years ago that 24 players on a server would be as far as we would come by 2012, I may have cried... speaking on the development of games in general it's kinda sad. However, compared to other console games out right now, it's obviously very nice. BF3 does have some flaws which are generally overshadowed by the immense fun you'll be having while playing it. For one, the engineer class is clearly the superior class, at least on open vehicle maps. On smaller and indoor maps, the class system that forces teamwork shines a bit better, but on open maps your squad will often consist of four engineers. I have heard some complaints that the larger maps a bit too large, which does have some merit. Although you generally can spawn pretty close to the action, that doesn't detract from the point that, as mainly a conquest player, there can be up to 5 territories, with only 12 players on each team. A bit of math puts between 2 and 3 players at each territory, but since players generally roll in squads of four that kind of divide doesn't generally happen. You can obviously just station a squad at 3/5 of the territories, although things never work out so pretty. Basically what I'm getting at it that I like the map size, but feel that often there are not enough players to fill it - I will quite often move from territory to territory and neutralize/capture two or three in a row without finding any opposition. A lot of people have also complained about joining servers on a squad. The thing is, that since there are dedicated servers as compared to a matchmaking p2p system, there are usually only about four slots free on any server, which is usually two on each team. So when you first join you may be separated from your squad. After one or sometimes two games you can then switch teams as people leave and new people join. It's a minor thing to complain about, as I don't mind killing my friends just a little bit, and after one game we are usually all on the same team in the same squad, ready to have a blast. Anyhow this is getting to be a bit long winded, but I will finish by saying BF3 has really raised the bar for console FPS games. My faith in games has been momentarily restored, and I will never play a lesser FPS. If you haven't tried it, then give it a whirl, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Expand

Im a fan of both cod and bf and it's ridiculous that all these fanboys of both games are bringing there scores down. Now let's get to the game. I already gave the game a point off because IMO the single player wasn't that good. I do like the variety of vehicles in this game, it somewhat makes up for the large maps, but some are smaller and have more action and those are the ones I play on like operation metro, when Im in for some jets or tanking I'll go with caspian border or another large map. Another downfall is, there is literally only 2 game modes (Conquest and rush) compared to mw3's like 20. Which in turn leads to the game eventually getting boring and not fun to play. I honestly think this game deserves a 7 and while it can be fun at times, it lacks the action of mw3. I think mw3 is slightly better IMO, maybe because the fast paced action just suits me better or I have just been a more of a cod guy than a BF. If you loved bc2 then you will probably like this game, however if your used to cod you may or may not. That is my honest review. Don't listen to the fanboys. Expand

I have 50 hours of gameplay in on BF3. I have not regretted buying this even once. It is an amazing game. The only thing that disappoints me is that it does not have the 64 multiplayer servers that the PC version of the game has. Other than that. Totally worth it!

You can fly multiple types and sizes of attack and scout heli's, jets, tanks, jeeps, humvee's, etc. Depending on game mode they have different versions of maps ranging from tiny call of duty size maps to GTA like sized maps. Single player is ehhh, ok. The jet mission is very fun, graphics again are great. If you only play multiplayer games for the single player then you are wasting your money.

Overall solid game. Call of Duty i remember always had lag, in BF3 the servers are run by DICE and EA and you dont have lag. Unless your into lag then buy COD series. They have an online website to track your stats and compare to friends on xbox, ps3, & pc as well as mobile apps and you can make/join platoons as well.

If you want to be like everyone else and buy COD go ahead. Have fun calling in air strikes since most of you COD guys will probably have a pretty hard time jumping in a AH-1 Super Cobra or Apache, picking up your friends and flying over and being the air strike like we are doing in BF3 as we speek.

I doubt ANYONE played these games for the single player, no matter what the critics say it has no influence in the sales and quality of each game in this day in age. They know what they are and thats a MP experience and if you wanna try support the single player, then you obviously haven't played any other proper single player experience this year as the market is littered with better experiences. Now back to battlefield 3, i'll start with a list of innovations in gameplay and graphics.... The destruction system, while flawed and not red faction, its still really immersive and realistic. Terrain deformation, bit of wall flying off wen trying to hide.... its insane who good it looks. I mean I see a bunch of enemies hold up in one area, fire a rocket above them and the building falls and kills them all. Like wow! It brings new levels of realism and immersion to the experience. The animation system they built is incredible, characters die, move, shoot, you name it, they do it so realistic its makes you stop a marvel at the true innovation they've incorporated here. Vehicles looks amazing, firing a tank in a wooded area and all the trees bend to the shockwave of the force from the cannon.... WHAT GAME DOES THIS! So amazing to watch. Small little innovations to gameplay also to balance the experience are implemented like flashlight blindings, laser sights so blind snipers out of their camping poistion, not to mention the lense flare if the sniper point in scope at you specifically. All these little things help push the genre forward. The sound in this game is unrivaled by ANY game. Just amazing, I feel like I'm in a real battlefield from start to finish of a map and it truly shows what can be done these days. This is the game you show to non-gamers to show them how far games have come and how much room for improvement a lot of games need to make to even come close to competitive with this great title. You can tell they put so much time and effort into a truly deep, immersive and NEW experience than its previous iterations. New engine = yes imo. DICE you've done it again 10/10 Expand

Battlefield boost exceptionally well Multiplayer action letting you play the role of ground forces and the ability to control vehicles to help aid in tactical objective game play in such modes as Conquest and Rush. While all I can say good things for the multiplayer section, the single player is a completely different story. The storyline presented was fairly believable and good enough to keep playing through to see it end, however the plot lines get ridiculous at times and the enemies are cheap, often killing you with a couple of shots in even the easiest of difficulties. The story has a good solid background but failed to delivered on it and leave players unsatisfied with the results. You play through several levels that seems vibrants and large yet there isn't a sense of exploring the open area since there isn't any special items or secret packages to collect it makes the scenery just there to look at. Overall this game is only for the multiplayer shooter enthusiasts only, if you are looking a decent single player then this won't disapoint you only leaving less then enthuse about playing it other then that this game deserves to be purchased for the multiplayer alone Expand

Regardless of this there are still some epic moments such as the sniper mission which I have been waiting a long time for something this detailed. There is a ton of LAG/Frame rate issues though. And whats with the 1.5GB update to get your graphics up to speed? The Code to play online is also a joke and provided much frustration on my 360. Top that off with week user interface that feels like a PC game. Then the Server went down for a brief period, so I hopped over to the SEPERATE DISK campaign and it starts repeating the opening scene on a loop of about 10 seconds? Whats that all about. The game just feels rushed. Far too many little issues considering they put 100 Million into advertising. Half that money shouldve stayed in game development. My score wouldve been a 9 if they issues had been resolved before launch. Im just disappointed in DICE for not smoothing it out more. It is such a solid platform, especially after a BETA. -MP this is AAA class MP gameplay the best fps gaming around for military shooters hands down.

OVER ALL 9.5 its not perfect but you gotta give Dice credit for going above and beyond the call(rehashed games)

This is what I expect from a new game. With the "Frostbite 2" engine, this game deserves nothing less than a 10/10. The best part about this game is that you really feel like your on the Battlefield. Well done Dice! Expand

Great multiplayer sub par campaign - but Multiplayer is where the main meat of this game is! Graphics in multiplayer are not a massive leap from BC2 but there are some improvements noticeable. Get a good squad and a good team on a match and your in for a treat! If your unsure about battlefield just give it a try! You won't ever look back to MW 2.5 and the camping 12 year old shotgun brigade!!

A solid and intense shooter, but lacks the massive scale of the previous game. Obviously the engine just wouldnt allow it, which is really disappointing. Im hoping updates and map packs will develop this game more into the experience people expected

If we were to wait until the next console generation lineup to play this game I would have done it, but that said this isn't a bad game. It's really a great addition to your FPS collection, but if you weren't a fan of Bad Company 2 then this game will not change your mind. The gameplay is pretty much the same, just with slight changes to the classes and the addition of flying jets. The single player campaign doesn't have much going for it apart from showing off how good the graphics can look. Multiplayer is the reason to buy this game. Obviously, the PC version is the best way to go, but if you don't have the money to afford a giant gaming rig then this version will do you just fine, even with the lowered graphics settings and lessened player count. They're two totally different experiences, and they both excel in what they're trying to do on the multiplayer level. The only thing that truly hurts BF3 is the fact that it had to be trimmed for consoles, but it's not BF's fault that consoles simply cannot handle it. It would have been like trying to port Crysis 1 without the CryEngine3. BF3 shows us that the end of this console generation is here, and that this generation is now holding back innovation and the future of games (seriously, wtf is the physics engine on MW? Am I the only one that is dissapointed that grenades dont move wood pallets or outright destroy them? Seriously, Source has better physics implemented in it) They're different animals... that's all- and lets be honest, BF3 does way more for the gaming community than MW, as it stands, will ever be able to do. BF3 will only get better from here as the expansions roll out. Expand

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
