  1. Call it Crackdown 2, Crackdown 1.5, or if you're really snide, a Crackdown expansion pack, but no matter how you slice it, Crackdown 2 is a fun game that's exceptionally playable and enjoyable even if it's not as original as it could be had the game received more development time.
  2. Fans that loved the original and cherish the idea of being able to relive the experiences with more friends will find everything they could have hoped for, but for those excited for the next step in the series will find that Crackdown 2 hasn't moved very far at all.
  3. Undisputedly dazzling - but there's an overly familiar vibe. Deserved to be better than this. [Sept 2010, p.94]
  4. The biggest issue with Crackdown 2 is that it feels more like Crackdown 1½ than anything else. More new stuff and more variation would've been needed for higher grades. But in the end, it's still good fun to become a super agent and save the world with up to three friends online.
  5. Perhaps the best summary for Crackdown 2 is to say that it's essentially Crackdown with zombies and co-op. Initially, that sounds like the greatest game ever, but the real picture isn't quite so rosy. A newly designed city and seamless co-op aren't enough to overcome the game's ho-hum missions or general lack of content.
  6. For every positive aspect found in Crackdown 2, there's a handful of negative ones. The game is frustratingly bland, lacking in innovation and it really feels like less of a game than the title it's meant to follow on from.
  7. Crackdown doesn't look great, brings no fresh ideas and overall feels like an unnecessary product. Watching a TV fortune-teller is a better waste of time then Crackdown 2. [Aug 2010]

People say it's a 1.5 only because the real 1.5 actually completed the game and made it so much better. This iteration has the same feel, but a darker setting, which is only made more stark by the memory of the pristine yet gang-ridden Pacific City of ten years ago. Jumping from building to building and dodging zombies is all of a sudden made substantial when you look up and realize that the smashed building you're climbing used to be Shai-Gen headquarters. As for story, there is more to this one than the last, but that's not saying much. Crackdwn is not about story, you need to be self-motivated to have a good time with it. If you get bored after the first ten minutes, then you missed the best parts. The audio logs are the new hidden-orbs, a review I read earlier lamented trying to find them all. The reviewer complained that the lack of story was critical because there was no motivation to complete the mission. How did that reviewer get through the first game? I don't know. I find it interesting that most of these reviews seem to be from people who only bought the first one a few weeks ago. They didn't understand the game back then, and they don't understand it now. Co-op is driving this second game, and with three friends, it is an absolute blast. Expand

The game is and can be lots of fun. It's most fun online with 4 people, but fun if your alone as well. It is a lot like the first one. The game is and can be lots of fun. It's most fun online with 4 people, but fun if your alone as well. It is a lot like the first one. Collect orbs, power up your agent and so on, but they did improve a lot of what was wrong with the first IMO. Your car no longer morphs, but instead when you lvl up your driving you unlock more vehicles. There are helicopters and the glide suit function at max agility lvl. When you do pick up melee weapons, you can actually swing then around instead of only being able to toss them. It feels more like an expansion though than an actual new title and the hefty price of $60 is another reason I gave it a 7. I hope the DLC will add more features to the game. However it is a ton of fun with friends as previously stated and I think the hate coming down on this title is more disappointment from hopes and dreams than anything else. It is fun,but maybe wait for a price drop. If you played the demo you pretty much know what the entire game is about. Expand

There is of course plenty of enjoyment still to be had for fans of the first game, especially when playing in co-op, but this is very much a sequel by numbers. Expand

Not a sequel, just an "expansion". It improves nothing on the original; not even small things that annoyed people in the first, like the Not a sequel, just an "expansion". It improves nothing on the original; not even small things that annoyed people in the first, like the targeting system. The 'additions' are laughably bad, like Orbs that run away from you and some silly 'added gameplay elements' such as the all new WAVE DEFENSE. The game doesn't have story at all (like the first) but they try so hard to bring one by including tons of unskippable dialogue and cutscenes. Stuff that annoys you like tutorials for EVERYTHING; they reckon no one has picked up a game before. It gets tedious and boring. What is also don't understand is why all the critics seem to (justifyingly) pan this game, but still give good grades. "YEAH WELL THIS GAME IS BORING AND NOTHING IMPROVED AND THE GRAPHICS ACTUALLY GOT WORSE - 8 out of 10" I'm thinking Microsoft had a hand in this, since normally they hype games weeks before release with their review scores. 8 months development time just isn't enough to create a compelling sequel, and this game proves it once again. If you loved Crackdown 1, just keep playing it, because 2 isn't any different. In fact, it's just worse. Expand

How can someone give this game more than a 5? The first game is by far more superior and fun. This game obviously looks rushed. In How can someone give this game more than a 5?
