You Monster may not convert every tower-defense holdout, but it's definitely one of the most devious and memorable bits of DLC we've played.

There's plenty of content and a certain charming novelty about You Monster that necessitates a download both for fans of Portal and Defense Grid. At an attractive 240 Microsoft Points, there's really no good reason to skip this conjoined celebration of top of the line fan service and quality PC gaming culture.

  1. Take an award winning co-op game and combine it with xbl's best tower defence game and the end result should easily be something truly special. Unfortunatly this is not the case with defence grid's first campaign DLC entitled 'you monster' starring the wonderfully psychotic AI computer from portal 2 and a few similar surroundings from the portal games. Suffice to say, this end result is less then i hoped for. The campaign features 8 levels that feel extremely rushed and there are no new towers to play with. However the 8 levels become increasingly more taxing as GLaDOS begins to mock your abilities and remove towers before leading to a nice little set piece ending. I'd recommend this highly to anyone wishing to expand their defense grid gaming. Those who have never played this but love portal should think about it and those who love both should take the plunge. At 400 microsoft points for an extra 15 hours gameplay,it's not to be sneezed at but dont expect something marvellous, simply imagine defense grid with GLaDOS chatting away and you are pretty close to what we have here. 2. Disappointing at best. I am a long time fan of the series and have waited a long time for some new content. Unfortunately, there is none to be found in this latest installment. No new units. The maps are new but practically unplayable due to ridiculous constraints. The AI will arbitrarily remove towers. For example, at one point ALL the gun towers I placed were removed at turn 10. Other restrictive rules are applied to the story maps as well. One of them you can only build Command towers!!!! ? and another was the Temporal towers made the enemy move FASTER. While this adds to the challenge of the game, I feel it detracts from the joy of employing YOUR OWN strategies to win. C'mon Hidden Path! How about some new towers to build! I'm STILL waiting for a new REAL expansion!!!!! Expand

  3. Ugh. I was hoping to enjoy this add-on, but it's terrible. The levels are fairly linear, allowing for very little in the way of actually making your own paths. You have towers taken away from you in later levels, which is suppose make it a challenge, but it's just annoying. And to top it off, it is very buggy. Achievements don't seem to work, scores don't want to save half of time, and a fair amount of freezing at menu screens. I enjoyed the base game, as well as the first batch of add-ons, but this one should be avoided. The only bright spot is the portal integration, but you would be better off playing Portal instead of this mess. Expand
