Happy Wars is a simple multiplayer action game for the Xbox Live Arcade. While it is ripe with problems, it's also a free game that is worth checking out. You won't find anything original here, but the fast-paced action is both chaotic and addictive.
There's minimal pressure to spend any money, the AI-controlled bots are intelligent enough to fool particularly stupid game reviewers, and the battles manage to be adorable and epic at the same time. Unfortunately, the repetitiveness in the sound design and gameplay makes the excitement level drop too quickly.
Its held my attention for 10 years now and I've spent five dollars on it just out of thanks to the makers. I should give them more but this isnt pay to win like many similar free to play games. I mean you can pay but you're goin to spend thousands to get what I have for free. You can't just buy what you want, you have to get lucky. It might take dozens of hours but once you get to top level you can be better equipped than people who have spent thousands, and some have. Love that luck aspect. Oh yeah the game is great, always a fun and different battle every time. Funny and colorful and hardcore and violent at the same time. Only flaw is they never expand it for some reason
Fair free-2-play game for Xbox 360, a good effort from Japanese company Toylogic. Visual style is nice, so the humor, but netcode is poor and need to be improved.
Free, without relying too much on purchasing in-game items and entertaining –but not addictive. This is the worst thing about it, since after a few hours the game gets boring, which we think will cause that essentially no one will pay for in-game content.
Lone players need not apply: an offline campaign proves useful for learning the maps and the nuances of play, but the focus is firmly with the online game. And either way, we'd advise spending a little extra buying Awesomenauts instead.
With very little reason to come back after a few quick rounds, I don't foresee Happy Wars being a staple of the Xbox 360 multiplayer scene for very long.
Happy Wars is really fun and is a great game for when your bored but can get a little boring after a while.
Is very fun when playing with friends. Great for Partys!
After playing Ascend Hand of Kul it made me appreciate this game alot more. At least you get a sense that they are trying to fix the problems..Unlike Ascend Hand of Kul that gives you a IDGAF that I havent seen in a long time. I like this **** pleasant and enjoyable with a few minor bugs and microtransaction that you dont need to pay to play to enjoy the game. Kudos!
Connectivity issues, unbalanced matchmaking, and slow reward pacing drag down what otherwise couldve been a pretty fun game. Finding a game can often take 5-10 minutes, which is unheard of in this day and age, and it's not due to a lack of players in the community. There are tons of people playing this game, and yet still, the server fails to connect everyone a lot, restarting the process all over again. When you do finally find a game, you still may lose your connection, and all your experience from a long match. It's not fun when half the time spent with this game is completely wasted by doing nothing. Assuming connections are working as planned, gameplay is still very much a hit or miss affair, since your teams are incredibly unbalanced. A player at a low level should always get pummeled by a player 20 levels higher. Good luck, cross your fingers you don't keep running into those players in the battlefield. Leveling up can be so addicting, what with all the enticing loot to upgrade and all, however, because this game is free to play, the company makes its money through micro transactions. With that business mindset, they have made it so your progress is very slow, tempting you to fork over your money for better gear to progress faster. Making you play with people at much higher levels only adds to that. Perhaps progress wouldn't be so slow or frustrating if there were no connection issues, and players could spend all their time actually playing. Underneath all the annoying things about this game there IS some enjoyment to be had. Customizing your character builds is very addicting, and 30 player battles can get very hectic when everyone is frantically unleashing team coordinated attacks to smother opponents. For perspectives sake, IF matchmaking was faster, more fair, and progression wasn't at a snails pace, this game would be good, and fun, and ultimately worth the time, a **** it's not.
This is a very boring game, in many different ways. The matchmaking is horrible, and you could be stuck a long time trying to find a game. And when you finally find you, you might just get kicked out because the host has connection issues.
The game itself is even boring, and has very little replay value. You start off by getting ripped to shreds by high level players. If you want to reach their amount of damage, you have to shell out real money in order to buy good stuff.
