  1. Feels like the refreshing start of a new era for Midway's fighting series. It probably won't change your mind if you're not into the genre, or even if you're into the genre but have already made up your mind about the MK series. But if you're open to the idea of more Mortal Kombat, you'll find a terrific game here.

The combat is solid, the story mode is substantial and if you are a fan of either universe there is something here to enjoy. The lackluster finishing moves and lack of extras really hurt the overall experience, but if you are indeed looking for a game that pits two franchises full of beloved characters there is a lot to love here.
  3. It may not be a “Flawless Victory” with its here-and-there hiccups and T-rated combat, but Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is the best pure MK fighter that the series has produced in years.

Enjoyable and silly, but if you want a fighter to go the distance, wait for SFIV. [Jan 2009, p.86]

It starts off fun, but once you've played enough rounds of Sub-Zero versus The Joker, there's not enough substance in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe to give it the longevity of better fighting games.
  6. Against all odds, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe turns out to be a very entertaining game. The characters that actually made it into the game are more than welcome and the chosen super hero's (and villians) are a perfect fit. The difficulty of the game is kept simple. Just the way it should be in a Mortal Kombat game. But, make sure that you have some friends over when you start playing the game, because it offers little fun for just one player.
  7. Once and for all the iconic figures in the Mortal Kombat franchise squares off against the heroes and villains of the DC Comics. It's a novel idea and done right it could have been an interesting reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise, but alas it isn't so. The violence has been toned down and gameplay wise it's just not that much fun or varied. It can entertain for a short while, but at the end of the day the only redeeming thing about this game is the ability to play as (or beat the crap out of) your favourite character in either Mortal Kombat or DC Comics.

The fatalities are "dialed down" a bit but they are still entertaining. I love Mortal Kombat but since they were introduced as a 3-D fighter they have ALL fell short of my expectations when it comes to actual fighting. This game is the exception...Midway has finally got it right! Expand

The controls are pretty easy for a fighter and the combos range for simple to just plain awesome! Only one thing this awesome game lacks though, more characters and more unlockable characters. Expand

It's not ultra-complex... however, it is extremely satisfying. The characters are very well balanced, and it's easy to learn after a few hours. I honestly went into playing this game with low expectations. I was very impressed, and shocked with how much fun i had. Now...i don't think i would buy it at full price. The lasting appeal may be good...but the content and unlockables are just average. I recommend purchasing after a good price drop. Expand

After playing a few mortal combats before I finally decided to buy one, and since I love the DC Universe, this game seemed perfect for me. I really like this game, the story line is funny, online play is good, and even though I'm terrible at fighting games like this, I can even win sometimes. The only aspect this game is missing is a fatality trainer! I could really use one of those so I don't have to look them up on the internet. Great game and it's cheap to buy!! Expand

It's an interesting idea, but it doesn't work as well as you would hope for. By far, MORTAL KOMBAT VS. DC UNIVERSE'S strongest suit is its addictive playableness and even though the majority of its cutscenes feel very amateurish, a good few towards the game's conclusion are really entertaining.

Overall, it certainly isn't perfect but it's a fun, four hour diversion. The boss battle was too hard haha

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Really hated this game, the story was boring, dull and cliched. Fighting was a drag, due to rage meters, and falling. Also the fatalities are censored what the **** First off you do not censor Mortal Kombat fatalities, second who wrote the story? Because who ever did was stupid. And the final nail in the coffin is the fact that this game is rated T T? Mortal Kombat is a game series full of gore, yet T? That is freaking stupid. Expand
