If you have cash burning in your pocket and you have to pick a sports title to go with your shiny Kinect, your options are pretty limited. If you want a charming sports title, with replayability, humour by the bucket-load and a great use of motion controls, MotionSports is not that title.
  2. Jan 3, 2011
In conclusion, Ubisoft's MotionSports It may not be accurate as a Kinect Sports but it's a valiant attempt at the developers to create something unique.
  3. Dec 21, 2010
While there are still a lot of areas that could have been done better, Motion Sports: Play for Real is an adequate launch title that shows off the potential of Kinect.
  4. Dec 21, 2010
As stated earlier, MotionSports: Play For Real is more of a complementary title to Kinect Sports than a competitive one.
  5. Dec 21, 2010
On paper Motion Sports sounds like a good idea, with a wide variety of events to rival Kinect Sports.
  6. Dec 21, 2010
There are plenty of unique games on offer here, but there's so many impediments to actually enjoying the game that the entire experience is dragged down. The far-too-frequent load time, and constant signing-in and picture-taking ensure that you're only actually playing about a quarter of the time.

You'd do better to get Kinect Sports instead. [Feb 2011, p.99]
  8. Jan 4, 2011
MotionSports tries to differ from Kinect Sports with a realistic visual approach and more exotic and interesting sports, but it fumbles the execution delivering us an unentertaining and bland experience, partly due to imprecise controls too.
  9. Dec 21, 2010
The lack of polish and the lag in between movements recognitions and videogame's inputs don't help in realizing MotionSports true potential. it's a pity since it's could have been one of the best Kinect launch titles.
  10. 45
Motion Sports is unfortunately another piece of Kinect software that's closer to shovelware than triple-A. With 6 sports, most of which don't work fully, you'll be hard pushed to find more than a few hours of entertainment here.
  11. Dec 21, 2010
Its inconsistent controls, poor interface, and general lack of polish keep it from being the entertaining mini-game collection it could have been.
  12. Dec 21, 2010
With limited variety and motion controls that are far too problematic, MotionSports stumbles out of the gate like a washed-up athlete way past his prime.
  13. Jan 7, 2011
The best advice to any gamer looking for their next Kinect title from the small library of quality titles is to avoid MotionSports. Here's hoping that the team can take what they learned here and have time to build a sequel that carries out their agenda and also controls well.

There isn't a single mini-game here that won't seem anachronistic three months from now. [Issue#67, p.90]
  15. 40
Not even on the paper is Motion Sports as interesting as Kinect Sports, which is more fun and more polished than Ubisofts halfassed effort. It won't make you sweat for any other reason than frustration.
  16. Jan 3, 2011
Maybe Motionsports original idea, to make use of Kinect possibilites to offer a varied set of sport challenge. was a good one, but ultimately it has been poorly developed and executed, and control doesn't work well enough.
  17. Jan 3, 2011
What a mess! Ubisoft did a really bad job with Motion Sports. The sports selection is interesting, but the crazy problems with the Kinect interaction transform a potentially nice experience in a boring and frustrating game.
  18. Dec 29, 2010
The real killer, though, is the amount of time wasted watching loading screens. [Jan 2011]
  19. Dec 21, 2010
If your biggest complaint about previous such entries is that they didn't include horseback riding, hang gliding or skiing, then MotionSports might get you in front of the TV for a weekend of flawed fun. Otherwise, we suggest leaving this one on the sidelines.
  20. Dec 21, 2010
Some nice visuals and a reasonably interesting selection of activities, however, MotionSports is rarely an enjoyable experience.
  21. Jan 25, 2011
Everything about this game is either bog-standard and forgettable (audio and graphics fall under this heading) or broken and un-enjoyable (nearly all of the actual gameplay).
  22. Dec 21, 2010
With deeply flawed motion controls and a number of other issues, MotionSports fumbles all its potential.
  23. 35
    Spend your $50 on something--anything--else. [Jan 2011, p.81]
  24. Dec 21, 2010
Overall it's a very disappointing effort from Ubisoft and definitely not worth your time or money.
  25. Dec 21, 2010
Hopefully this is the last we'll see of the human d-pad experiment. I spend enough time under the thumb as it is.
  26. More Bowel Motionsports. [Feb 2011, p.108]
  27. Dec 21, 2010
The Kinect might be going through something similar to what the Wii went through early on, but hopefully it gets through the growing pains... this one's gotta hurt.
  28. Jan 2, 2011
Awful has a new nameā€¦it's MotionSports.
  29. Dec 21, 2010
Although the graphics are adequate, at least in comparison to the rest of the game's failings, all this is really good for is making Kinect Sports look even better by comparison.
  30. Dec 21, 2010
Why bother playing this mess of a game when you could be playing Kinect Sports instead?

I can't believe UBISOFT put his name on that product. It's a proof that the company gor for profits not quality.

    The game
    is Barely playable.
Most of the movement you make are not even registered on the crappy game, preventing you to complete a single task.

    The only Pro is graphics.
    The con ? Everything else!!!!

i was incredibly dissapointed about how poor this game is. The controls are terrible, which is a shame because if it had had a bit more polish it would have been great, but no, it's awful. Full Review »

Ubisoft MUST be trying to ruin their good name... there's really no other explanation for how poor their Kinect titles are. The only good thing about this game is the hang gliding - it's actually fun. Every other sport in MotionSports has absolutely terrible controls that do not behave in a reliable way. Occasionally they seem to work, but only enough to cause frustration when you try to repeat the same movement and the game fails to recognize it. If you want to play sports games with Kinect, but you want to actually enjoy the experience, pass on this title and buy yourself a copy of Kinect Sports. Full Review »
