Like Trenched before it, Rock of Ages offers a fresh, action-oriented twist on the tower defense genre, along with a welcome, zany aesthetic. It's a curiosity, for sure, but if you enjoy the offbeat, you cannot go wrong here. Hats off to Atlus yet again for bringing something new and interesting to the table.

When I wasn't thrashing foes along complex battle maps, I was laughing my ass off at the brilliant cutscene sequences.

  1. You will have fun with this game, guaranteed! The introduction clips to each level are hilarious, the action is frantic, and the game play is addicting. If you have kids, it's a great way to push the curiosity to find out about the art style and moment in history of each level (although the relevance of the "historic" characters chosen is questionable in many cases). The defense system is a bit off, though, but if you can master it, it will become relevant in some matches.
If you are one of those gamers who have been complaining about lack of originality in games lately, you have to check this one out!

  2. This is probably the most innovative game you'll play all year. Its a combination of tower defense, bowling and driving, and when you add multiplayer into that combination you get a great game with tons of replay value. Oh, and don't forget the Monty Python-style humor, this game is hilarious.

The games often come down to a difference of a few seconds, which most of the reviewers here don't seem to understand. You're supposed to spend the majority of your focus on the offense, but if your defense can slow them down by even a few seconds that can be the difference in the game. The only issues I had with the game was the controls. In general they were fine, but placing units could be a little difficult with the analog stick. This wasn't a big deal though, and it was still workable. Overall, Rock of Ages is a great game with an innovative concept, and for $10 it's totally worth it.

  3. Totally funny! Interesting Ages, nice art style. Crude humor and very entertaining. I would buy that game again every single day. Even again, a very original game. Please, I want more of that. Full Review »
