The game has been made less-realistic in an effort to appeal to a younger demographic and I applaud Activision for this decision.

A big improvement over the first effort but still miles from Skate's quality.
  3. A significantly better showing, but still not a patch on the classic Hawk offerings of old. [Jan 2011, p.83]

The only way Shred won't make you want to tear your hair out is if you play the game on the casual setting, during free ride, and with low expectations.

  1. huge improvement on the previous game. Shred's game play is fun and the fact that Tony Hawk himself actually hangs out and teaches you is great. Kids love it and can beat me on a regular basis.

The board is a lot of fun and it's very addictive. The controls are a lot tighter than before. Snowboarding is a great bonus and hoping to see more of it in the future.

I cant recommend this game enough, if you were slighlty interested in Ride but were put off either because of the reviews, or because you bought it and found it to be very frustrating dont be put off by this, you'll be glad you have the board, which I guess has been gathering dust for a long time.

Point to note, this is arcade gaming, its simplistic, on rails gaming that is a lot of fun, there are enough challenges to keep you interesting but if you just want good old fasioned arcade fun then you got it here. Reminds me very much of the 90's arcade game 'Top Skater'
