Is it me?... Or is activision starting to turn into EA sports. It seems like they are milking their franchises without putting too much effort into making them dramatically better. I honestly can't see any reason to buy this game or call of duty, just like I can't see buying a EA sports game because it's basically the same thing you've played already. Yes they have the new trick system, but the gameplay overall needs to change seriously. Expand

The only improvements are with the graphics and the Nail-the-Trick feature. The controls were always right and a skateboarding game can only do so many things as far as storyline goes but in the areas it could improve it did. The only reason I've downgraded this to a 9 is that I feel like we've taken a few steps backwards as far as the create-a-skater/create-a-skatepark goes. Otherwise spot-on people, spot-on. Expand

Project 8 gets a score of 8. The "Nail the Trick mode" is a cool new addition. The graphics are good and the game is fun. There was only two things I did not like. The first thing I did not like was the constant annoying messages left on my video phone after every 2 or 3 challenges I completed; it gets old quick. The second thing I did not like was that after I was in Project 8 the team (which I could not wait for since I was rank # 200) there was no motivation to become #1. I got on the team and then I had to go back and try to complete the same missions I already completed on sick and pro level(which I already attempted 100 times and failed.) Overall this game is good, which is why I gave it an 8. Expand

Damn. I'm not new to the series, I played and loved almost every Tony Hawk game. I expected great thinks from this next gen version. Woah. Big spaces, a frigging load of things to do, pretty textures and models! But. Still, I can't accept such a horrible framerate. It's like playing on a pc game when you don't meet the reccomended requirements, and you can't lower the detail. It's not unusual to screw up missions for a sudden frame rate drop, and it's known how much precision is required for the harder tasks of these games. Putting tasks to do everywhere is a nice thing, but the way it has been done results often confusing, making you wonder where do you have to go to complete them, as a consequence of poor level design. But still, what really pisses me off are these awful framerate issues. They are a constant through the game. And I can't accept them on a console, and even less on a 360, which proved to be able to handle much more than that. It's just BAD programming. What is really painful is that it killed a pretty good game, potentially the best of the series. I hope next episode will be better, maybe the new development kits produced by microsoft will help even the most inable programmer. Expand

This is an OK game, but it should seriously be rated M. i mean, there is a lot of blood, and there's white paste that comes out of your body. that is blood AND gore! its just plain old disgusting. skate says it has blood and gore, but there's hardly any. this is just how i see the game.

This game is fun. I don't have much to say about it outside of the fact that its just like every other new Tony Hawk game, the same as the last one with new places and new modes. The good thing about this one is the tutorial and the sandbox effect.

An all-around solid game, kicking the board around at your leisure is always nice. Physics good, music good, looks good. I love playing it. I'm addicted a little bit.

They pulled it off with the 720p visual graphic upgrade. The game might not be revolutionary, but this is number 8 folks. The controlls were alway spot on. Now with the power of 360, so are the visuals/ physics.

I used to really enjoy the Tony Hawk games but now it seems as if the new Tony Hawks become more and more limited. It used to be that you could create your own character from a wide variety of hair styles and clothes. That feature has been limitted in Project 8. And what really ticks me off is that you used to be able to create your own skate parks using various kickers, quarterpipes, etc. Now you can only edit a very small area buy moving around a single kicker. It's just not the same Tony Hawk I used to play five years ago. Expand

While the Nail the Trick feature is brilliant, it's just one small addition to what is largely the same game. Yes, it is now one seamless world, but that doesn't necessarily make for a better experience. In fact, the level design may have suffered because of it.
  2. Neversoft has created the most realistic skate title ever made. The graphics, animation, sound, challenge system, and Live integration has created a game that will challenge the legendary "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2" for its crown as the king of the series.

What Neversoft has built in Tony Hawk's Project 8 is, without a doubt, its masterpiece. The series has evolved into a sort of "evens are groundbreaking, and the odds are great" formula, but not only is this the greatest of the series, it's the best entry since "THPS4," which has long been the series' crowning achievement.
