  1. The best football game available for any format. Period.
  2. What we have is solid, and refinements could propel it back to glory, but really it's high time we started over from scratch...It's hard not to think that the series has taken a noticeable step backwards at a time when EA's busy taking giant steps with "FIFA."

They need to elevate PES to the next stage of its life that it so deserves, and the only way they can do that is to give players more of what they want rather than take from them.
  4. If you really want to play online though, or the game modes are important to you, the PlayStation 2 game is by far the better choice. This year Konami can just about be forgiven for short-changing Xbox 360 owners, but next year's game better be next-gen.
  5. What makes all this a shame is that underneath a layer of awfulness the classic Pro Evolution Soccer gameplay is there fighting to get out. But a broken mess of an online mode, unnecessary alterations and an absent edit mode make this hardly the next generation football classic we were expecting.
  6. Pro Evolution Soccer can once again chant “We are top of the league” thanks to yet another dazzling performance.
  7. One of the finest soccer games I have played. Everything when playing a match feels fantastic. Scoring goals takes hard work, and when you do you feel as though you really have earned it.
  8. Konami's seminal football game finally makes its way to the Xbox 360, but it doesn't fulfil many next-generation ambitions.
  9. It looks the same, plays the same, feels the same and, praise the lord, actually is the same. Maybe a bit too 'the same' if you've played it every year for the last five years, but still. It'll do.
  10. In PES6 you can make a sliding tackle and come up with the ball, and the AI has been greatly improved. The passing and shooting have been made harder to master and the players’ movement off the ball is better.

Given the sports simulations that have decorated 360 so far, there’s an inescapable sense of yearning for what could have been. An evolution is no longer enough. [Dec 2006, p.110]
  12. If all you want to do is play football with friends then PES will still provide you with everything you need. Just don’t go expecting miracles as it is still very much another evolution in the series, we might have to wait until next year for the revolution.

A big letdown in many ways - it simply should have been so much better.

Gripes about PES prove a modern-day "Princess and the Pea" story. The general excellence of the game's simulation serves to unduly highlight one measly kilobite of pure devil's armpit. [Issue 13, p.96]

While EA’s effort is admirable and the improvement is notable, PES6 just has an undeniable superiority in its depth in gameplay, which will always beat graphical dominance.
  16. Although the tweaks and alterations since the last version are only minor, Pro Evolution Soccer is still a decent footie game. But this year the gap between "FIFA" and PES has grown ever tighter. The overall experience of "FIFA" is certainly better but PES still has the hardcore gameplay.
  17. There’s just far too much disappointment in PES6 to make it fun; I’m not talking about hype or other people's opinions here, I’m talking about a company too lazy to address the problems that have plagued the series pretty much since the start.

Looks a little better than the previous incarnations but is mostly quite familiar. The lacking editing possibilities of the 360 version are a disappointment, but the game itself is still as fun as ever. [Dec 2006]
  19. Although the game's presentation is markedly improved, it seems as though we'll have to wait until Pro Evolution Soccer 7 marks its appearance on the PlayStation3 before we really see what Seabass can muster with the next-generation.

It may have been the prospect of high-definition Pro Evo that created the most buzz amongst fans, but it's the superior PS2 version that comes out smelling of roses.
  21. Owners of an Xbox 360 have a right to feel a little miffed that their version isn't identical to the PS2 but Pro Evo 6 is still top of the table.
  22. A very high standard game but considering the series' lofty expectations it just doesn't go far enough to keep us happy.

PES 6 is a very slight downgrade from the remarkable PES 4 and PES 5,but it's still an awesome game.Licensing has gotten better with officialPES 6 is a very slight downgrade from the remarkable PES 4 and PES 5,but it's still an awesome game.Licensing has gotten better with official Ligue 1 teams licensed, but the unlicensed Bundesliga is gone, however Bayern Munich are back and licensed.

Gameplay is as solid as all the previous titles in the series, the game takes a framerate hit an odd time but never really affects gameplay.

Sound is meh, crowd noises just aren't loud enough to make yourself think it's a football match.

Game Modes are identical to PES 5.

Overall,PES 6 still remains superior to FIFA 07.

This is the best football/soccer video game made to date. It takes up all my video game playing time. Very addictive, realistic game play. I think this game is about as good as it can be given the limits caused by licensing. The gameplay and matchplay have all improved but it is I think this game is about as good as it can be given the limits caused by licensing. The gameplay and matchplay have all improved but it is hard to ignore the lack of edit modes and save replay functions. These issues are all that stop this game from being a 10 in my opinion and (on the pitch at least) it will be hard to make pes 7 much better. Full Review »
