Even though the grappling system is slowed down and pre-fight sequences lack the familiar trash talking, UFC 2 is a great transition of sport into the digital realm. It is the closest we've been to feeling how it is to fight inside the octagon.
...People are criticizing this great game for being broken... Have you guys played the same game I did?
AI has acceptable difficulty, the fight mechanics are superb, anything below 7 for this game is bs.
EA Sports UFC 2 is the culmination of what has been learned the past two years, as the game is far richer in content, has a greater focus on authenticity, and is trying to please fans of the sport over those who couldn't care less about it.
EA Sports UFC 2 delivers the grandeur of MMA in a remarkable and brutal presentation. A traditional fighting game this is not, and the genuine attempts at simulating a dense sport result in clumsy combat that only on occasion captures the drama and nuance of human chess.
Incredible game, stand up is done well aside from a few collision detection issues regarding spinning strikes.
Ground game is excellent and the submission mini game is challenging yet rewarding once mastered.
The game has a steep learning curve but anyone who puts in the right amount of effort and time will find its an excellent translation of mma into a game.
Online review only as I don't play offline.
Graphics are insane and combat gameplay pretty good. Lots of characters, decent modes, and online head to head. Career mode is boring though no motivation to play. here's an example of why i rated this game low.. This is specifically for ultimate team mode. In Madden there are a ton of challenges and regardless of spending money you can atleast make a good team. With Ufc its totally pay to win and the ranking matchup system is a joke. The more you pay the more moves and skills you get. Grinding for wins without money for packs is a joke. And if my fighter is 69 dont match me against a 80...
Where to beginning. The game is extremely addicting, I have over 500 online fights, but it is sad it took me 500 fights to realize how terrible the online is. If you get lucky and get an opponent who will fight you normal than the game is great. A good fight between two opponents who play the game like it is real life, it can't get much better.
Normal = Not spamming take downs, spamming leg kicks, spamming take downs, spamming, ground and pound and reversing all of your attempts at transitioning.
But does that happen often? No
The online is trash, full of people spamming and cheating their way to victories. The computer judges are trash, typical UFC title stuff that has impacted their sales since the first UFC on xbox. The game always fails to deliver in the online aspect.
Take downs are extremely slow and do not flow with the speed of the game at all. Maybe UFC 3 will be different, but I wont get my hopes up.
Was really exited about this game. Played the first and loved it. Lots of potential, does not deliver at all. The carrear mode is broken, with AI being much better than you and almost impossible to beat. The stand up fighting is average at best. However the ground work is horrific and slow. The online feature is a good concept, however lags very badly and matches terribly. However bad the gameplay is, this game has slightly better graphics than the previous. But this does not make up for the discustingly bad gameplay included for this full priced game.
SummaryA new physics-driven hit reaction and knockout system delivers more visceral KOs than before. Every knockout is now unique. Simultaneous two-fighter interaction brings the ground game to life with greater responsiveness and variety. Surprise your opponent with a flying armbar from the clinch, or with a quick transition from a knee bar to...
