This is a solid collection of games that is a welcome addition to anyone’s party arsenal. The Jackbox games can be a little hit and miss sometimes, but this is certainly one of the best entries and will keep you all entertained for hours. There’s some of the best game variety yet and each one feels different enough to really be worth dipping into. Of course, you’ll get more mileage the more you have people round, but even if it is sporadic this is a worthwhile inclusion.
If you’re looking for something better for lighter concentration, Jackbox 5 doesn’t have the variety of some of the earlier bundles. I came away impressed by the five games here; I don’t think any of them are even close to being a dud. You just need to make sure everyone’s up for the long haul with these games.
The Jackbox Party Pack 5
One of the best party packs of all time
Like every other party pack, party pack 5 comes with 5 games that ar best played with at the very least 3 people, and you all use your phones instead of contollers. And Party Pack 5 contians probably the best game to date.
Incuded in this package is one of the 2 weaker games, you don’t know jack, blah blah blah boring trivia game im over it, but Jackbox gotta have at least one every pack… then we have the most thought provoking game so far, split the room.. here you come up with conundriums and try to.. you guessed it.. split the room… you don’t want a question with an obvious answer, you want to create dilemmas, and the bigger the crowd the better this game gets.. then we have what is probably my most favorite jack box game since fakin it… made verse city.. youre robots.. sadly you ont get to choose your robot, but none theless you are robots rap battling eachother, and for the firt time ever the game will say what you type, so youll be swapping words and lines and come up with a way to turn different topics into a rap dissing your opponent and everyone around votes on the best, again the more players the better, and I just absolutely love this one, then we have one of the worst jackbox games of all time, zeeple dome.. you fling little dudes around at aliens on your phone.. an attempt at an actual game.. I would’ve preferred the team developed a candlyand like boardgame instead, this aint it… and finally we have patently stupid, you choose a problem another player has, you draw the invention, give a presentation, and other players vote on the best presentation, again the more players the better, it’s a game where you get to draw and those are alwys fun.
Party Pack 5 is a msut have in your jackbox and party game collection, it just is.. even if just for split the room and mad verse city, make sure you pick this one up
I give The JAckbox Party Pack 5
an 8.5/10
The Jackbox Party Pack 5 is probably the most popular party pack in general, but what are my opinions?
YDKJ FS: They took a more "Jackbox Games" style to this version of YDKJ, and things like the scoring system are pretty good bonuses. But I'm not exactly sure why they changed the Jack Attack. Also, I liked how the screws worked a lot better in 2011/2015. I do like the lore of Cookie being kidnapped, and the Binjpipe rep is hilarious. 7/10.
Split The Room: Split the Room is a game where you get a pre-made prompt and have to fill in the blank with something. At the end of your dilemma, there will be a yes or no question. Your goal is to use your answer to divide the room between the two answers, getting more points the more divided the response wins. Great host, fun game, and funnier gameplay. 9/10.
Mad Verse City: You rap battle your friends as robots, people vote on who wins that match, winner gets a lot of cash. Do that for three rounds until there's a winner. Every time I play this game, I end up liking it less. You don't write all your verses for one, you pick a word for the first and third line at random without knowing what the prompt is, I'd much rather write my own bars all the time. Also, this game is a BIG popularity contest, so good luck if you're going against a big streamer. 5.5/10.
Zeeple Dome: They tried doing something new, and they bombed. There isn't even a goal for the game, you just destroy monsters... it's stupid, lazy, and I wonder why anybody would unironically enjoy this game. 2/10.
Patently Stupid: One of the best drawing games. You get a problem, and draw an invention to solve that problem with a title and tagline. Then people can fund projects, and if you get enough funding you pass, and get some extra money, while all the other people who invested in that get money too. If you don't reach that goal, you get the money of everybody who funded your project, and that's all. Very fun game, very funny as well. 9.5/10.
My overall rating for this pack is an 8/10.
It’s impressive that even after five packs and twenty-five individual party experiences Jackbox Games are still able to deliver the good times. And to be honest, if they continue to keep up the quality I’m more than happy to keep playing for years to come.
The Jackbox Party Pack 5 is one of the most adventurous party game collections yet, concocting interesting gameplay ideas and challenging its players to put their best self forward in front of friends and online audiences. With the exception of one glaring misstep, Jackbox Games continues to innovate and build upon their winning formula.
This year's Jackbox Party Pack has some truly clever games that are thoroughly enjoyable with friends. The version of You Don't Know Jack may not live up to previous iterations but everything is still a blast to play.
The Jackbox Party Pack 5 is a fun and memorable game that will get the players to contribute and to create hours of memorable moments. While the minigames involved often leave the feeling that something is missing, the game's nature and the way it is structured make it difficult not to enjoy it for its social side.
While the The JackBox Party Pack 5 is hard to recommend at full price due to mediocrity, if you liked past entries it could be worth buying while on sale.
A must buy pack for You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream.
You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream: Still an amazing trivia game, finally modernized for this format.
Split The Room: Not my thing.
Patently Stupid: Decent drawing game.
Mad Verse City: Fun game. Hope this gets a sequel.
Zeeple Dome: NO.
With seemingly all Jackbox Party Packs, there are some games that hit it out of the park and others that hit the dirt before reaching the plate. In this case, the same analogy applies.
Not even a game. A great way of wasting your friends time by asking them to play a game, when there is just...nothing. A piece of paper and a pen is better.
SummaryIt’s the biggest Party Pack yet with five party-saving games, including the return of the classic pop culture trivia mashup, You Don’t Know Jack. Use phones or tablets as controllers and play with up to eight players, plus an audience of up to 10,000.
