  • Summary: The story of crossed destinies and a broken love in a world torn apart. All of them will try to survive the horror of the trenches following their faithful canine companion. In Valiant Hearts: The Great War, the lives of all these characters are inextricably drawn together over the course of the game. Friendship, love, sacrifice, and tragedy befall each one as they help each other to retain their humanity against the horrors of war. Expand

A great story. Touching, brilliantly developed end elegantly depicted. Ubisoft shows once again that video games are indeed art and a great storytelling medium.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is short, but anything longer would most definitely be padding.
  3. Jun 26, 2014
Valiant Hearts accomplishes what only a small number of games can: it educates you on the highs and lows of a significant event in history, while creating a tragically beautiful game experience.
  4. Jul 9, 2014
Valiant Hearts strikes a difficult balance in depicting the horrors of war and the hope that peeks through its cracks, but it does so with grace.
  5. Jul 25, 2014
Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a graphically superb puzzler, tackling historical events that are not perhaps known to everyone and doing it in a lighthearted, yet respectful manner.

Valiant Hearts isn't capable of putting your neurons in constant motion, and it doesn't offer the most amazing narrative level. However, its charming setting, the intelligent management of the plot and its unique style make it a great exponent of the genre.

Visually, the game is crisp, but looks to me like a glorified flash game.

Superb. Art style, story, minimal game play. It really is a beautifully made game and more its simplicity, it is probably my game of the year so far.

    Great price too!

This has to be one of the best games I've ever played. This game shows just how horrific the First World War was, but tries to not be too grim. It throws in a joke or two every now and then and makes it a lovely experience. This game plays with your feelings and by the end of the game I can gaurantee you'll be in tears.
Absolutely amazing game with high replay value.

Amazing game, very powerful and moving. The puzzles are not overly challenging, and I estimate the game should take between 7-10 hours to complete. The music and voice overs are amazing. Best WWI game I've ever played. This is worth your money. Expand

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a diamond in the rough. By focusing directly on the characters, and how they are affected by World War I, Ubisoft provides a welcomed change from a standard shooter or action game focused on conflict. The graphics are great, and completely compliment the story driven game; especially the detailed backgrounds which add depth to each location.

I highly recommend this game; especially at $14.99.

This game is a breath of fresh air. Whether it's the art style or the music or the even the characters, this game is beyond amazing. The gameplay is solid and enjoyable to play through and you would leave the game wanting more of this fantastic game. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have seen just a tad bit more variety, but that is just a minor complaint and overall I have enjoyed the ever living crap of this game. Whatever platform you have, download this game and you too will love this game. Best game I have played all year so far. Expand

It is almost impossible to look at the game and not smile or enjoy what has been made. For anyone who enjoys a good story with lovable characters i strongly recommend this, yes it can be repetitive in some areas but what game these days isn't. It's never a boring game and if the story or gameplay doesn't keep your eye then you can lay back and listen to the breathtaking soundtrack. For under 20$ and up to 8 hours of playtime this is a puzzle adventure game that knows what it is and will never let you forget it was made from the heart. Expand

I was really looking forward to this game and although I liked the story and the history lesson I really have to say I almost hated the game play. I found the game side of it to be tedious and annoying and couldn't wait to finish it. I am very sad to say this as I really do love what they tried to do with this game. The first world war as a setting and the puzzles all should have worked for me as this is what I normally love in gaming. Why this didn't work for me I can't really put my finger on but It was a chore to play for me. I can only guess that it might have been the repetitiveness of the game that was the culprit. I hope this kind of game continues to be made but I think the developers need to work a bit on making them more fun to play. This sounds shallow to say this about a game that tries to let you feel what the first world war was like, which I think is does very well, but games still need to be fun to play. Expand
