  • Summary: Here's your chance to wield the power of Aquaman, the DC Comics superhero, as he defends the deep-sea city of Atlantis against such enemies as Ocean Master, Black Manta, and the Lava Lord of the Fire Trolls. You must fight to save the lost city by using Aquaman's super powers, telepathy, and hook-hand. While the game features plenty of intense underwater battles, you can also bombard your enemies from an attack sub in first-person mode. Expand

  1. The setting for a really interesting adventure is present and the hero has a really nifty aquatic gift, but the end result is disastrous thanks to poor execution and a weak story with no real payoff.
  2. It totally lacks imagination or polish. Toss this one back. [Nov 2003, p.102]
  3. There’s just no way to make Aquaman more exciting than beached jellyfish. It’s time to let the scaly superhero sleep with the fishes already.
  4. Aquaman is to underwater action what the man of steel is to airborne antics - crappy - and on Xbox nonetheless. [Oct 2003, p.73]
  5. Even the most hard-core Aquaman devotees will likely find little use for this short, shallow, problematic ramshackle game.
  6. A pathetic example of rushed development, and no one should be forced to witness the results. Sadly enough, Aquaman’s first shot at videogame stardom would have been more appropriate on another console five years ago.
  7. The graphics blow, the control is as responsive as Anna Nicole Smith's husband, the animation is an insult to those 60's Hulk cartoons with the retarded theme song.

I have heard too many critics bash this game. True, it does seemed rushed and lacks a lot of quality...but I feel the gameplay and graphics are still great. Not very many games come out where you can fight and swim entirely underwater. Critics say that the game lacks voices or more sounds during the underwater fights, but lets think for a moment using common could any of the characters really talk underwater? It would be nothing but ridiculous gurgles of water and bubbling. More screams would have been nice, but not necessary...we don't need to make the characters (good or bad) act like girly wimps when they get hit. I was dissapointed with the fact that the controls could not be changed from the inverted versions. I'm not use to controling a character using pilot controls, so it made the submarine levels tougher. The comic book scenes could have been better. The same pictures of faces over and over was very dissapointing and boring. And a much broader soundtrack would have been better as well, instead of the same two songs over and over again. Being able to unlock and play as the classic Aquaman was worth it. This is a unique game, which could have been done better...but I feel is still good and hold it's own compared to other games I have seen and played. Collapse

Yeah, seriously, it sux on every conceivable level. And 2 the guy that said it would sound gurgly if they talked in "real life", try telling that 2 the all-too-real mayor of Atlantis, who actually speaks fluent russian WHILE maintaining an underwater city's delicate economy! Zing! Expand
