  • Summary: Dr. Muto is a fully 3D, free-roaming, third-person action adventure game set in a stylized universe full of fiendish puzzles, mind-bending devices, freakish monstrosities, and twisted comedy. You are Dr. Muto, a maniacal and genius mad scientist whose latest experiment has accidentally destroyed his own home planet--all except for his laboratory. The game features a cast of unusual characters including Dr. Muto's sidekick, Janky, and his nemesis, Professor Burnital. By simply sampling some DNA, the doctor can morph into a spider, mouse, gorilla, or whatever creature he sees fit to become. Now he must use his fiendish gadgets and morphing ability to steal organic matter from the neighboring planets in order to rebuild his world. Expand

  1. It is fresh, new, and puts an unusual twist on the ordinary.
  2. A breath of pure oxygen to the platform genre... Despite it's inane premise and outward appearance, is really aimed at intelligent gamers with a sense of humor.
  3. 85
Muto has sly humor, difficult challenges, and some fantastic gameplay elements and comes out as the second best platformer on Xbox.
  4. A pleasant surprise. The characters are amusing and a little different, the game is smoothly produced, and while it's somewhat derivative, it's still a lot of fun.
  5. An excellent sense of humour that manages to make the older gamer chuckle without offending the kiddies.
  6. If it were not for the horrible camera, Dr. Muto would be one of my favorite games of the year.
  7. It seems as if those at Midway decided that the “hook” they would use in the game would be the good Doctor’s ability to change into various inane things, such as a spider or squirrel. The whole game in fact is based around this concept, and it is easily one of the most contrived, useless gimmicks I have seen in a game to date.

When i played this game as a ten year old, i had some fun, but was ultimately disappointed by how frustrating was. Most of my problems was the camera. it was controllable but never where i wanted. many of my deaths was caused by me not being able to see platforms. that is my basic complaint. i rage quit a few times and it looked a bit muddy but i was 10 and the style of the world makes the muddy environments excusable. i enjoyed the humor and the entire things being so campy. could be a 7 if the camera was fixed.
