  • Summary: You can build a boxer and take him into the ring in Fight Night Round 3. The game features improved graphics, which let you see in detail the effect of your punches on licensed boxers who fight in a variety of boxing styles. You can generate rivalries leading up to a fight by trash-talking and also by fighting during weigh-ins and press conferences. Fight Night Round 3 also includes ESPN footage of classic boxing rivalries. You can challenge other gamers in online multiplayer matches. Collapse

  1. Fight Night Round 3 is a fantastic boxing title that really delivers the action in a realistic way for fight fans, and those discovering the sweet science for the first time on their home console.
  2. Fight Night Round 3 takes the sweet science of boxing to bloody new levels, and he results are certainly impressive. [Mar 2006, p.40]
  3. Despite the less-impressive graphics, the game holds its own with its balanced fights, new punches, and replayability.
  4. The moment when your uppercut lands squarely on the chin of your opponent and you see his lifeless body collapse to the ground feels perfect, and you feel like a champion. No other boxing game has ever recreated this so faithfully.
  5. This is a good fighter but it could have been much better. Still, the game is entertaining, challenging and looks good.

My beef, however, isn't with the lame blood effects or the unauthentic venues in ESPN Classic mode, no no; it's with the damn product placement.
  7. 35
The graphics are dull and lifeless, the sound is awful, and the gameplay has been completely ruined, and if that's not enough to deter you from purchasing the game, EA's blatant disrespect for the great sport of boxing and its colorful history should do the trick.

So I've had this for a little over a week now and I must say that it is pretty solid. I passed on the last couple Fight Night games because I was busy with other stuff. I heard good things about number 2, so decided to pick this one up. So far, so good. The controls are nice and tight and the total punch control setup works well given enough time to get accustomed to it. Graphics look good with a few minor problems here and there (like fists going through heads on replays). I knocked this down a couple points because the career mode and computer AI seem to be lacking something. The computer fighters are not very smart and you'll find yourself cruising right along without much competition. Multiplayer is a blast though. This alone gives it tons of replayability. I don't know if it is different enough from Round 2 to make it worthwhile, but for anyone who has skipped a couple years worth of boxing games, I would say pick it up. Fun game. Expand
