From start to finish, Lego Star Wars delivers; looks, presentation, gameplay, replay value, none of it lacks polish.
  2. Most interestingly, the game will appeal to both kids and adults, as its simple pick-up-and-play action is accessible to almost anyone of any age.
  3. Lego Star Wars is the perfect rental game: it's short, it's fun, and it's got a great multi-player mode. It is too short and too easy, though, to warrant a purchase.
  4. After playing through Lego Star Wars multiple times the one thing that holds this game back from being extremely fun is, first the length which could have been longer, and secondly the camera, which at times did get in the way.
  5. But with more than 30 playable characters from the movies and loads of goodies to unlock, Lego Star Wars is more than just kids' fodder. It's a great Star Wars game.

It's hard to describe just how much better LEGO Star Wars is than it should be. All the pieces just fit together perfectly. It's cute yet cunning, easy but addictive, and simultaneously light-hearted and intense.
  7. Whether you are a kid, have a kid, or just a kid at heart, LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game is a definite most-own title.

The perfect party game for nerds. [May 2005, p.111]
  9. Achieves what regular Star Wars, in recent history, has been unable to do: deliver a children's experience that is fun and engaging for adults as well.
  10. 85
The game has a good balance of action and puzzle solving which should keep you playing through right to the end.
  11. It's not the longest game, and it's not the most complex game, but it succeeds at almost everything it sets out to do-which puts it head and shoulders above most other games out there, Star Wars-related or not.
  12. Though be warned – after playing, you'll be sorely tempted to pop off down the local toyshop and invest in some of the ever-popular plastic brick kits for yourself! Now where did I put that curved end bit.
  13. Brilliant but too short - you need to play this, if only to see Hayden Christiansen outclassed by a virtual toy. [GamesMaster]
  14. I defy any gamer with even a modicum of affection for Star Wars or LEGO to play this game and not have a good time with a big grin on his face.
  15. This is probably one of the better kids' games to hit the market in a while, and that it's clever and charming enough to appeal to adults is a testament to that fact.

If you don't break into a big, dopey grin while running around shattering LEGO Battle Droids into their component parts, then you should just put videogames down for good -- you've outgrown them.
  17. It's made for kids, but you'd have to be pretty jaded and close-minded to ignore the fun that's to be had by playing this game.
  18. 80
It has everything a family-oriented title needs: it has personality, puzzles, cooperative modes, replay value, low violence, a lack of frustrating difficulty, and most importantly, it has Darth Vader.
  19. It may not be the most technically accomplished game to have graced our screens, but the plain and simple fact is that it's so much fun to play, it's almost indescribable.
  20. The animation and quirkiness of the characters is superb and brings a whole new dimension seeing them in Lego form.

The best thing to come out of the prequels, since the films thus far have not stood on their own.
  22. The game is addictive. I just couldn't put it down until I was done playing.

Lego Star Wars is really fun, friendly and colourful little game. It's not too complicated, but still very entertaining. You have to be a hardened cynic or a Star Wars hater not to like this game. The Force is indeed with the blocks. [June 2005, p.59]
  24. The faithfulness to the SW Universe (as perceived in the movies) might be better than any game out there, kid title or not.
  25. There's a goofy pleasure in seeing animated Lego figures pantomime scenes from the movies, and the game's puzzles and battles are undemanding but fun.
  26. So yes, it's fun, charming, addictive in a kiddy way, and a bit too short. But it's very Star Wars, so that's alright then.
  27. 87
Regardless of the issues, Lego Star Wars for the Xbox should be your only choice when it comes to picking any Star Wars game for the console. There's something everyone can enjoy.
  28. 80
Puncturing the pretentious balloon of Star Wars with amusingly colored bricks is a noble goal. And if nothing else, there's always the light puzzle that triggers NPC disco dancing to a techno remix of the Star Wars music.
  29. The faithfulness to the SW universe might be better than any game out there, kid title or not.
  30. It's not particularly challenging, nor is it epic in length, but for a few brief hours it will provide you with a lot of fun.
  31. While there is very little challenge involved and beating the game length is kind of on the short side, it is a fun game to play through if you are a Star Wars fan.
  32. 82
If you're a Star Wars fan, even an old school purist like me, you will have a blast playing this game, especially if you have kids to help you out.

Who'd have expected a bunch of little colored blocks to re-energize the old George Lucas entertainment machine, just as it seemed to be winding down?

I'm still finding easter eggs and minikits. yeah. Full Review »
