Phantom Crash isn't a game you can simply pick up and play, but for mech fans and those gamers always up for a singular adventure and a time consuming (but fun) weirdness - this is definitely your ticket. [Nov 2002, p.144]
  2. The combat in Phantom Crash is mostly excellent.
  3. Aggressive, forward thinking and fun, but repetition soon dulls those virtues.
  4. As engaging as the game can be, the action has a tendency to seemingly last forever at times, forcing you retire early just for the sake of a breather.
  5. A great fast paced mech game for *one person*. *sigh*
  6. It features some nicely executed gameplay concepts, but all this is too shallow and repetitive to warrant a higher score.
  7. Although the Japanese influenced gameplay is engaging at first, countless deathmatch battles and only three arenas hurt the overall appeal.

An undeniably solid game... [but t]he lack of variety and the limited number of arenas make the premise wear prematurely thin.

    A cyber-punk mech battler's dream come true. [Dec 2002, p.82]

Probably one of the longest games for me to ever have finished which can be both a good and bad thing. The music was strange. There was no real story, but it was still quite a fun game. It wouldn't cost much to get this game off E-bay, but I suggest anyone who like trying different games just to have a look at this one Full Review »

Phantom Crash could be a perfect game if it offered more (and larger) levels, more SV manufacturers to choose from, multiplayer co-op and Phantom Crash could be a perfect game if it offered more (and larger) levels, more SV manufacturers to choose from, multiplayer co-op and syslink and online play. Lets hope there's a sequel with all that in it! As it is the game is very addictive and a LOT of fun, once you get past the mostly senseless dialogue between battles. Full Review »

Just enough challenge to keep me compelled, and while it was very straightforward and simplistic, I feel that's where it really shined. It's simply a mech deathmatch game. That's it, no confusing plot twists. If you don't play it for an extended period of time, you can still pick right up where you left off without any problems. There's enough customization options to keep you goal oriented as you smash up opponents. When my arsenal of XBOX games felt overplayed and tired, I could always pop in Phantom Crash for some mindless fun! Full Review »
