With incredible track designs, a spot-on control system and a soundtrack by Junkie XL, Quantum Redshift leaves little to be desired. It may not be perfection, but it's pretty darn close. [Dec 2002, p.125]

The only thing preventing an even higher score is the "Wipeout analogy"—Quantum Redshift matches that standard, but doesn’t deliver something beyond it in terms of gameplay.
  3. Explosions, good lighting and cool particle effects are everywhere in Quantum Redshift. But the graphical effect that stands out the most is the subtlest of them all: water.
  4. The single most impressive feature of Quantum Redshift is its absolutely gorgeous graphics. This is one of the Xbox’s best looking games to date, and that’s saying a lot.

Distracted by the majesty of the visuals, it's difficult sometimes to keep your head in the game. [Oct 2002, p.67]
  6. With a few more customization options and some robust (and online) multiplayer options, this could be the premiere series in the genre.

This game never lived up to its hype, but it's actually really fun. Great graphics, simple gameplay and backwards compatibility make it playable today. Only 8 racetracks does make it a bit monotonous though, as it takes a while to open up the last one. Full Review »

Thirteen years later and this game still looks and plays like a dream. The sense of speed is unparalleled, the gameplay is smooth and responsive and the weapon system is easy to manage. This game got so many things right for it's time. I love the water effects and track design (16 of them!) and unlockable characters (the majority of which are female. Unheard of in any game, let alone a racer.) My only gripes are the mediocre soundtrack and silly banter between the characters before races. Full Review »
