Innovation, gameplay and realism is what makes ShellShock a fantastic game. The game does a great job at portraying the brutal atrocities and controversial actions of the Vietnam War Continually fighting through the game your surroundings change enough to keep you interested.
  2. I enjoyed this game completely and appreciated all of its little nuances, but I believe that the lack of replay value is detrimental and turns it into "another shooter game."
  3. Yes you do kill innocent villagers, yes you do get funky with Vietnamese hookers, and yes you do get to experience the horrors of the Vietnam War, but while Shellshock Nam '67 isn't quite a masterpiece, it is still an enjoyable game if you're starved for a solid shooter.
  4. Shellshock promises gamers a chance for a realistic Vietnam War experience, but what it delivers is a repetitive third-person shooter that fails to break any new ground.
  5. 58
More tiresome and frustrating then thrilling or terrifying.
  6. It certainly raises the bar on vile, pointless cutscenes. However, anyone interested in more than stubbornly average gameplay should look elsewhere.
  7. What I'm opposed to is a crude, unattractive, senseless war game like Shellshock: Nam '67. [Oct 2004, p.76]

I liked it a lot despite the crappy reviews because I like wargames a lot. It is still better than reviewers are saying. Some people go into games expecting too much nowadays and it ruins the experience for them because it doesn't live up to their expectations. Go into it knowing it is a shooter set in the Vietnam war depicting every bad thing with that war and you won't be disappointed. Don't expect anything groundbreaking and you will like it a lot too if you like military themed games. Could have used more attention in the "pop-up" part of the graphics department with trees and the like popping in and out and warping just in front of you. Still, a lot of attention to detail though. It is a decent war This game is actually pretty decent, considering there are only two other Vietnam games out there, and they both suck. It is a decent war themed third person shooter, and the mechanics are good. The graphics could be better, but they are not terrible, and yes you and your squad can heal up in time if you're not getting attacked, but if you think this makes it too easy, I suggest trying to play through on normal or even hard. Overall above average, but not great, but not bad either...... Expand

This is a refreshing attempt to realistically portray the moral relativity of war. Unfortunately the moral aspect of Shellshock is as far as the realism extends with this title. The game is squad based and your teammates are invincible, that is, until they are scripted to die. The enemy AI is demented at best and the level design and graphics are below par for the Xbox. This game took me 4 and a half hours to go through on first attempt, with the achievement of medals being the only motivation to replay the game. For me, this wasn?t motivation enough. Shellshock falls into the 'Medal of Honour' category of war games, where your path is pre-determined and all that is required to progress the story is to keep killing the enemy until they're all dead. In spite of this game's attempts at creating an atmosphere, its technical and design flaws mean that it is little more than an average shooter. I generously give it 5/10. Expand

Any Vietnam vets out there that play this game will be appalled. Wait for Men of Valor. At least it will do those that fought there justice. Any Vietnam vets out there that play this game will be appalled. Wait for Men of Valor. At least it will do those that fought there justice. This game is terrible in every aspect: graphics, control and gameplay. Nothing more than any other third person shooter set in Vietnam to get people to spend money on it. Where are the quality assurance teams nowdays? How could anyone let a game that seems to be only about 30% complete get shipped to stores? Expand
