  1. This is a waste of money on the developers part to whack a mixture of poorly thought out ideas, bad visuals and sound, in the hope that a few people will somehow be tricked into buying it.
  2. 46
It contains nothing special and brings nothing new to the genre, meaning it falls below the other better Combat Flight Simulators out there.
  3. This concept itself obviously isn't a terribly original one, and Shattered Universe's gameplay mechanics are equally pedestrian in design, hopelessly trying to mirror bigger, better space combat games.

If your stupid game is as fun as watching a pet die, as attractive as an eight-legged dwarf, and as generally cool as getting your chest ruptured by an angered moose, it's bloody well not going to sell or be critically-freaking-acclaimed!
  5. While Shattered Universe does a fair job at capturing the unique feel of a Star Trek episode, it somehow manages to exhibit gameplay as simple and archaic as the series itself.
  6. It's just a bad game with crappy cinemas and more than enough frustrating moments to make you weep into your Romulan Ale. [Dec/Jan 2004, p.89]
  7. Shamelessly uninspired. Trust me, you don't want to fly sortie after mind-numbing sortie of hour-long missions that almost always end in tragedy, forcing you to restart the whole flavorless affair. [Dec 2003, p.184]
  8. 30
At its best moments, mediocre. At its worst, it's redundant, unforgiving, and glaringly ugly. You simply have no time to be messing around with this sort of game.
  9. With all the material out there, how can in game stories be so bad? Take notes from the Star Wars X-Wing series if you want make a fighter based Star Trek game and mix it with the best Star Trek flight sim, "Bridge Commander," and you might have a game worth playing.
  10. The problem is that the gameplay itself is just downright awful. The missions are poorly thought out, excessively long, and inadequately defined. [May 2004, p.12]
  11. 20
All of these clichéd mission objectives wouldn't be so bad if the play mechanics were compelling. Instead, you just bolt around trying to shoot at enemies with weapons that are entirely too lame.
  12. Simply a terrible game. Bad graphics, poor sound, lousy play mechanics, dull mission design, occasional crashes and no Captain Kirk combine to make this an adventure best left to the unknown.

Clunky, outdated looking cinema's, inane gameplay and a horrible 'pulsing light' in the background of space that gave me a migraine after about 10mins of play. AVOID. Full Review »
