  1. That almost all of these 11 games look like tired also-rans merely compounds the feeling that this is one of the most cynical cash-in releases ever conceived. Avoid.
  2. The games are all emulated quite well, but aside from the couple of big-name titles featured, many of the games included in this suite are simply not worth playing.
  3. As ever, it's a case of 20 minutes of quick-fire fun at best, another lesson in how games from the past should just stay there at worst. [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
  4. 49
The emulation of the arcade games are perfectly nailed and it's a shame that it was wasted on such a poor game selection.
  5. 48
The emulation is spot-on, but the package is lacking in heavy polish and fun. And it's ten bucks more than other classic arcade packs with far fewer titles on the disc. Cut that price by half and maybe we'll talk.
  6. If you're ready to relive those golden days of spending your allowances at the arcades, be prepared to pay quite a premium for this average collection.
  7. Whether you're a fan of these older games or you're looking for a bit of history to add to your collection, you'll be more than happy to get your hands on this one.
  8. Official Xbox Magazine
It's a testament to Tecmo's long-running reputation for making tough yet rewarding games that are hard to put down. [Nov 2005, p.124]
  9. A must-have collectible for the nostalgic gamer who yearns for the yesteryears of gaming - everyone else should probably skip it.
  10. Game Informer
All told, faithful arcade fans should have a look, but no one else should feel the need to drop in their tokens. [Oct 2005, p.140]
  11. Play Magazine
    Arcade-perfect fun. [Oct 2005]
  12. Simply has too few games to offer much replayability, and it tends to become old rather quickly.
  13. A rental is definitely in order for Tecmo Classic Arcade, if nothing else but to experience many games that you probably passed up back in the day, or to beat a few of the classics.
  14. I still wonder why Ninja Gaiden is missing and a few other games from the classic Tecmo days come to mind that should have been on this one.
  15. Just extremely boring and very disappointing for this day and age.
  16. Of the eleven games in this collection, there are only two or three that have aged gracefully. The rest of the games don't quite hold up. What's even more disappointing is the omission of a few of Tecmo's more popular games like "Ninja Gaiden."
  17. Besides the lack of historical extras Tecmo hasn't even included online score tracking.
  18. I didn't expect a remake, but these are some bad-looking games. I mean it – compare 'em to the games of their era and you'll discover that graphic quality has been an issue from the beginning.
  19. The bottom line is that I could only recommend this collection to the diehard fan that is already familiar with most of these games.
  20. 45
But retro compilations are practically a dime a dozen these days, and next to the likes of "Namco Museum Battle Collection" and "Capcom Classics Collection," the games enshrined here show both their age and a general lack of inspiration.
  21. Most of these games could be replicated on the GBA, certainly the DS. There's no reason to get this package especially for the Xbox. It's like slumming to waste a great console on these old hackneyed games.
  22. 40
One of the few collections on the market that I can honestly say isn't worth picking up. The majority of the games found within the package are bland to awful and the few gems included aren't really all that fantastic.
  23. 40
Remember playing awesome quarter-eaters like Swimmer and Pinball Action? Neither do we. Which means all you old farts can go back to chasing kids off your front lawns instead of playing this game.
  24. Tecmo Classic Arcade isn't entirely loaded with winners, and some might question the bump in price up to the $30 range, but classic gamers will want to jump right in just to endure "Tecmo Bowl" in its finest form, as well as "Bomb Jack" and a few other favorites.
  25. 40
Next to Silkworm and Ninja Gaiden, these efforts are just warm-up practice for the real thing. Even at a budget price, spend accordingly.
  26. 30
Overall, it's just a confusing, poorly conceived product that should set off a consumer's "money grab" senses.

The only game that I was truly looking forward to was tecmo bowl, but it's got to be the worst tecmo bowl version ever. It's okay The only game that I was truly looking forward to was tecmo bowl, but it's got to be the worst tecmo bowl version ever. It's okay as a history lesson, but not so great as an actual game. There are a lot of duds here. Full Review »
