  1. Fanatical soccer fans who really missed the European tourney mode in "FIFA 2004" may want to pick this game up..."FIFA 2005" is slated to support Live, which makes the purchase a UEFA Euro 2004 that much harder to justify.

The game play could be overhauled further as it's slow, controls could be more responsive, ball physics still can do with some working.
  3. Despite some slightly better AI, a new defensive swarm button, and setting up a qualifying schedule (then monitoring your roster to see who's morale is low), there isn't much here. [July 2004, p.112]

Of the new moves, through-balls and crosses are much better than those in "FIFA 2004." [Aug 2004, p.86]

The graphics aren’t much different from those in FIFA with players still having that stiff, android feel.
  6. A reasonably clinical package with a decent though not spectacular footy game somewhere under the glitz and licensing efforts, but you'd still be better off scouting around on the transfer lists for a better value signing. Not everyone's as much of donkey as Heskey.
  7. The replay factor is really, really limited. You can play for the Cup then, basically, play for the cup again. The lack of online play doesn’t help either.
  8. Euro 2004 is equal at best to the standard set by big brother "FIFA 2004," but does not surpass it, thus offering no lure to gamers who already own that title. Also, the gameplay is plagued by the very bugs that kept FIFA beneath "Pro Evolution’s" shadow at Christmas.

The 'new' simplicity makes for a fun and fast game that, courtesy of the excellent passing system and decent AI, finds a firm balance between real football and the arcade fun of a five-minute kick about. [June 2004, p.120]

Euro is basically a I've been an avid EA FIFA fan since around 2k and Euro 2004 is a welcome but limited addition to the franchise. Euro is basically a souped up 2nd addtion of what FIFA 2004 should have been...game play is solid, scoring is much harder this time around (better AI), new through ball is welcome, but once again 1v1 moves are still hard to pull off...overall, the game is an upgrade from FIFA 2004 so if you simply can't wait for 2005 purchase this game and join the rest of us fanatics waiting for the upcoming Euros... Even the old blackburn style of punting it up the field to the forwards works to a point. And if you have a star player give them the ball as much as you can as they make a huge difference with shooting, dribberling etr to the game, just like the real thing. Not quiet as could as pes3 but its getting closer. As far as no online play, tuff gets ye mates round have a few drinks is even better. Full Review »
