  1. A great translation with some nice bells and whistles, but the inconsistent AI and lack of Xbox Live really hamper this title.
  2. For the first Yu-Gi-Oh! videogame for the XBOX, Yu-Gi-Oh! Dawn Of Destiny is a good attempt on Konami’s part. But hope and pray, that the next Yu-Gi-Oh! videogame made for the XBOX really lives up to the excellence that most XBOX videogames deliver.
  3. You cannot add cards to your deck without winning them in a long series of duels, so it wouldn't even be useful for trying to run tournaments, other than having people bring their decks on a memory card.
  4. The entire point of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise is to incite adolescent jealousy, gamesmanship and spending, and while fans of the series might find something to appreciate in this title, casual gamers will not. Skip it. [June 2004, p.80]
  5. Aside from being the first version to hit the Xbox, there isn't a whole lot to differentiate The Dawn of Destiny from its predecessors. It's really just a mediocre card battling game.
  6. If you can make head or tail of the multitude of minor rules and spell/trap combinations, or already enjoy the cartoon, check this out. Anyone over 12, dig out that old algebra textbook for some more interesting bafflement.
  7. If there had been Xbox Live support it would have at least given you some live players to compete against, but still would be a boring card-dueling game with too many confusing rules and a bland presentation.

An exact rule for rule Yugioh game coming out on a home console wa a big deal, as most of the other yugioh games were twists of the yugioh card game. seeing this game, i was excited, i made sure it was backwards compatible with the 360, took it home and put it into the 360... not compatible. This was the beginning of a long strech of dissapointments with this game. a few months later, my girlfriedn gave me her old xbox with a bunch of games, so i decided to try again. i finally got to play the game, i was so excited. about 15 minutes into the game, i litteraly fell asleep. im not kidding, i slept for a good hour and a bit, a nice nap none the less, but i woke up and tried to play it again. and i couldnt. it was just so damn boring. and things that seemed small were starting to piss me off more and more. like if you lay a trap, anytime anything happens, it prompts you to activate the card, its just annoying. another thing that was bothering me was how bland the game looked. i love the 3d models and the cards, but the backrounds are so boring and uninteresting. i honestly tried so hard to like this game, i really did, but i just cant. everything about this game is so bland and boring. even the music was dissapointing, and i think its one of the main things that put me to sleep. this is a good concept, but was represented and executed in all of the wrong ways. it has a similair premise to dark duel stories, but in that game, the duels are much more fast paced,. the music is great, and theres more to the duesl themselves, the duels in this game however are very unexciting. even though i personally dont like this game (trust me, even i dont see why, i look at the premise and the menus and all the yugioh characters, get excited, and then start dueling and get bored) i still think that as a game, this isnt that bad, especially since it represents the yugioh card game in 3d, plain and simple. i dont like this game, but i still reccomend it for yugioh fans, who enjoy just playing the card game in digital form. no more, no less.
