  • Summary: The crew is back in Barbershop 2. They're all still there in Calvin's shop, this time with Queen Latifah joining the fun as Gina, a stylist at the beauty shop next door. The world changes, but some things never go out of style -- you can still say anything you want at the barbershop. (MGM)

Barbershop 2 makes you want to know what happens next. In its own way, it's the Ivory Soap of sequels: 99 and 44/100% pure.
  2. It's a warm, often funny reunion of the sassiest, chattiest characters ever to buzz a brother's head. You'll like this one more than you'd expect.

Just as sharply funny and as heartwarming, yet unsentimental, as the first.

A calculating crowd-pleaser that sometimes feels like a movie equivalent of the corporate chains it's decrying.
  5. 60
This sequel ups the ante, asking whether urban renewal means anything now other than turning neighborhoods into giant malls.
  6. 50
Takes a dedicated and true snapshot of African-American life. But so little of its presentation is memorable. This is a haircut movie that redefines ''fade.''
  7. 30
Cube is still adorable, but the potentially poppin' battle between the shop and big-box competitor Nappy Cuts gets obscured by sloppy chronology and flat, cartoonish politicos.
