FredH.Feb 20, 20052This film has a few cute moments, but it is a hodge-podge of preachy messages, incomplete characters, and bad writing. Combine that with weak story lines and you get this mess. If you are looking for a way to occupy the kids for a couple of hours, you could do worse, but not much. This movie is a stinker.

DaveF.Feb 18, 200510A warm, literate, and charming family film that does not lower its humor to the bathroom level or its story to xbox attention span expectations. An instant classic, nice performances by all the prinipals. Great to see Dave make his movie debut in such a touching movie.

MichaelM.Feb 18, 20056Great, warm family movie. The little girl is a good actress who will probably be around for a long time. No inappropriate moments in this movie as it depicts good life lessons. Dave Matthews did an excellent job in his role as Otis.

38Tries hard to be sweet but plays like "Pollyanna" with fleas.

60Uneven though it is, Because of Winn-Dixie, based on Kate Di Camillo's novel, is tough to dislike.

50Some might even find the leisurely pace a nice break from the rapid-fire approach favored by most kids' entertainment.
