It’s fun, gore-drenched, and even touching at times. All that’s missing from the toothy chaos and broad comedy on display here is Dame Judi Dench and the kickass title that could have been: "The Best Necrotic Mandible Hotel."

As subtle as its title, Cockneys vs. Zombies is mildly funny and easily likable.

Matthias Hoene’s delightfully chipper film delivers, even on the “not-a-lot-more” front. He set out to make a funny, fast-moving gross-out zombie flick, nothing beyond that, and he has succeeded with style. And humor. And guts. Lots of spilling, dangling guts (and other body parts).

You may protest that this is just a splattery feature-length sketch, and you’d be absolutely right. Why not have a laugh at this absurdly trite concept? I’ll take the cheesy breeziness of “CVZ” over the frowny somberness of “World War Z” any day.

Matthias Hoene allows the cockney swears to flow as deliriously as the truly convincing blood splatter, offering a few unexpected gut-busters along the way.

C Vs Zombies is funny and awesome! The story works, the gore is super geared with VFX and the comedy has a good British touch to it. TheC Vs Zombies is funny and awesome! The positive posts are clearly loyal members of the crew, but even they must be posting through gritted teeth. Genuinely tedious and one of the worst British films ever made. Not even worth it for anybody hoping that it's so bad, it's good. It isn't. Full Review »
